ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta native Carleigh Bettiol, a December 2008
graduate of the SUNY College at Oneonta, has landed a role as one of the
four "Hot Box Girls" in a professional production of the musical Guys and
Dolls at the Armory Theater in Janesville, Wisconsin. The show is
scheduled to run from March 13 through April 26.
Carleigh Bettiol sang in an open audition for the show on January 19 in
New York City. She was called back to audition again on January 20, when she
sang, danced, and read in specific scenes of the musical. Guys and Dolls
is the fourth show for which she auditioned and the first in which she
landed a major role.
"I am very honored and blessed to have been offered this role," said Ms.
Bettiol. "I am so excited to perform in the show and to gain more experience
in the theater business."
At SUNY Oneonta, Carleigh Bettiol developed an extensive background in
dance and choreography with
Terpsichorean,
the SUNY Oneonta student dance company. The company's Fall 2008 show
included a dance entitled "Alice in Wonderland," which featured her original
choreography, and she was the choreographer of two dance pieces in
Terpsichorean's Fall 2007 show, True Hollywood Story. At the
College's December 2008 candidate recognition ceremony, she sang the alma
mater and the national anthem.
Locally, Carleigh Bettiol is well known as a performer and choreographer.
She choreographed the September 2008 Orpheus Theatre production of A
Chorus Line, and she appeared in the recent Orpheus production of
Crazy for You.
