ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta resident Carleigh Bettiol, a 2004 graduate
of Oneonta High School who is now a senior
Business Economics
major at the SUNY College at Oneonta, is the choreographer of the Orpheus
Theatre production of A Chorus Line, which opens on Friday, September
26, in the Belden Auditorium of Oneonta High School. Bettiol earned the
position as choreographer based on her extensive background in dance and her
experience in choreography with
Terpsichorean,
the SUNY Oneonta student dance company.
Bettiol was the choreographer of two dance pieces in Terpsichorean's fall
2007 show entitled True Hollywood Story. For the show, she
choreographed "Don't Speak," based on the song "The Moment I Said It" by
Imogen Heap, and served as co-choreographer with SUNY Oneonta student Adam
Caronti on "...But You Have No Idea...," based on the song "I Feel Like Dyin"
by Lil Wayne.
Bettiol played a role in the last four Terpsichorean productions at SUNY
Oneonta, and she has also been a leader of the student organization. As
treasurer, she started a successful fundraising project. As secretary, she
maintained all records, audition sheets, show announcements, and program
layouts. As vice president she coordinated all technical needs, lighting,
sound, and staging requirements.
In her role as a choreographer for Terpsichorean, she proved herself as a
mature leader and mentor, earning high respect from her peers. Several
members of Terpsichorean have volunteered to work with her in the Orpheus
Theatre production.
