SUNY ONEONTA TO HOST AREA ALL-STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL
 

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY College at Oneonta will host 340 student musicians chosen from 33 different high schools in the region for the annual New York State School Music Association Zone 8 Area All-State Music Festival. The event will be held in the Hunt Union Ballroom on campus on Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22. The students will present a concert starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children 4 and under. Members of the community are invited to attend.

Four large ensembles will perform at the concert: the Concert Band, conducted by Professor Kent Burchill; the Women's Chorus, conducted by Theresa Lee-Whiting; the String Orchestra, conducted by Ron Hebert; and the Mixed Chorus, conducted by Professor Timothy Newton.

Dr. Robert Barstow, Chair of the Music Department at SUNY Oneonta, will serve as Host and Festival Coordinator. More information about the event is available from Dr. Barstow at (607) 436-3412.
