Fall 2003
The College at Oneonta proudly
announces...
- Renewed Accreditation: The Middle States Association
Commission on Higher Education recently reaffirmed the College's
accreditation for another ten years. The visiting MSA team cited a number
of strengths of the College, including academic programs, the commitment
of faculty and staff, and progress in recruiting highly qualified
students.
- Awards for Excellence: In 2003, the State University
honored three faculty and staff and 12 students with the SUNY
Chancellor's Award for Excellence. Twenty-five students and 77 faculty
and staff have received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence since the
programs began, and 13 faculty have been named SUNY Distinguished
Professors.
- Alumni Support: Alumni donors and donations reached
all-time highs following the previous fiscal year's increases of 27% in
donors and 21% in donations to the Alumni Annual Fund. The College
offered over 500 scholarship awards, totaling more than $830,000 in
annual and endowed scholarships.
- New Facilities: Construction has begun on a new
200-bed residence hall to accommodate the increasing number of students
who want to live on campus. A September 2003 ribbon-cutting will unveil
the completely revitalized Human Ecology Building and its new labs for
computer-assisted design, chemistry, and food preparation.
- Recognition for Volunteerism: The Center for Social
Responsibility and Community received four of the seven national awards
presented at the 2003 conference of the Campus Outreach Opportunity
League. Since 1994, College at Oneonta students have performed over
250,000 hours of volunteer service at an estimated value to the
community of more than $1.2 million.
