History 145: U.S. History II 3s.h. A general survey approach, emphasizing significant problems, issues and controversial developments in U.S. History since the end of Reconstruction Satisfies both LA and HA2 requirements History 246: The Progressive Era 3s.h. Surveys the political, social, and economic forces that brought about the progressive reform movement of the early 20th century. Prerequisite SoS or 3s.h. 100 level Hist. course Satisfies LA requirement History 249: History of the U.S> in the sixties 3s.h. Course examines the political, cultural, and social changes in the United States during the turbulent decade of the 1960’s. Topics include civil rights, the women’s movement, expansion of the welfare state, the war in Vietnam, the formation and demise of the liberal consensus, the emergence of the counter-culture, and the conservative backlash. Prerequisite: SoS or 3s.h. 100-level Hist course Satisfies LA requirement History 285: History of the American Family 3s.h. Examines the transformation of the American Family from a unit of production in an agrarian culture to a unit of consumption in an urban culture.
