Experience the ever-changing and evergrowing kaleidoscope that is India. The ancient civilization throbs with energy and life. Learn about the country first-hand through this three-week intersession program. Dr. Ashok Malhotra will guide you through a muIti-disciplinary perspective, featuring excursions to places of historical, religious, and artistic significance. ![]() Participants may register for college credit or join the group on a non-credit basis. An orientation program for
all particip- ants will be held on the SUNY-Oneonta campus on
November 6-7. Overnight housing is available at the Morris Conference
Center at a modest cost. |

In the village of Dundlod, you will have opportunities to take part in several service-learning projects. Tutor child- ren in the English language, assist in the health center, or take part in the construction of a new building for the Indo-International School. Through Learn and Serve in India 2000, you can continue the tradition of service established by the SUNY- Oneonta Semester in India program in 1996. Participants founded the Indo- International School, which provides educational opportunities for lower- caste children. ![]() Participants in this year's program will help construct a new school building, an enduring legacy to the commitment of the SUNY-Oneonta community to serving others. |
Professor Ashok Malhotra, a native of India, has taught philosophy at SUNY- Oneonta for over 30 years. A recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, Dr. Malhotra has led the College's programs in India 12 times previously. ![]() Professor Malhotra, Education Professor Suzanne Miller, and SUNY-Oneonta student Josie Basile were the driving forces behind the founding of the Indo-International School on the 1996 trip. Through the Ninash Foundation, found- ed in memory of his wife "to promote literacy among children and adults throughout the world," Dr. Malhotra has raised funds-to begin construction on a new building for the Indo-Inter- national School during Learn and Serve in India 2000. |
