OPEN Peer advocates and educators are referral agents, skill builders, motivators, role models and environmental activists. Peer advocates and educators affect students in both formal and informal ways regarding the following issues: retention, academic advisement, health advocacy, and freshman transition issues. Estimates show that peer advocates and educators reach approximately 1800 students through direct interaction. In addition, they communicate with students through contacts such as bulletin boards, mailings, posters & pamphlets.

There are currently six OPEN groups active on campus, each group has a Student Development office with which it works directly.
