ANSWERS

What forms of transportation are available on and off campus?
The student activity fee you pay supports a bus service which runs through campus and downtown every half hour. Service begins at 7AM and ends at between 12:30 - 1:30AM on weekdays. The schedule varies on weekends; the Student Association Office has schedules.

Oneonta Bus Lines charters buses to New York City and Long Island during student holiday and vacation time periods. Call (607) 432-4040 for the schedule. Greyhound Bus Lines (607) 432-0505/ 800-231-2222, or Trailways (607) 432-2661/ 800-858-8555 also provide transportation to and from Oneonta.

After dark, students may contact University Police for an on-campus escort from one location to another. There are also "Blue Light" phones conveniently located around campus for everyone's use in case of an emergency. The "Blue Light" phones are restricted to emergency use only and are directly linked to University Police.

Can I have a car on campus?
A resident student must have 57 or more credit hours or be a transfer student with an Associate Degree to register a car on campus. If you have a concern or a problem, call University Police at (607) 436-2644.

How much does laundry cost?
No quarters are necessary for washing or drying laundry. The cost is included in room rental fees and limited to individual use based on residence hall occupation.

Are telephone services provided?
Basic telephone service is provided in each bedroom on campus at no extra cost. Each student can apply for an Authorization Code from the Office of Telecommunications. This code may be used for calling long distance. However, only directory assistance and international calls will be billed directly to you. All domestic long distance calls are free. In all instances, modular arrangements exist; therefore, you will need to supply your own telephone instrument.

How do I access the SUNY Oneonta Internet connection?
Each bedroom has one Ethernet connection per student and each room has wireless access. All residence halls have computer labs, and computer labs are located in various academic buildings campus wide.

For questions about computers and internet access, please visit the On-Campus Residence Hall Services section of the Telecommunications Web Site, or call the Information Technology Help Desk at (607) 436-4567.

Are cooking facilities available?
Snack preparation areas are available in all buildings which include microwaves and sinks. Double-style buildings (with the exception of Hulbert Hall) and Higgins Hall have kitchens with ovens.
