Cultural and Other Programming |

Cultural ProgrammingThe Office of Multicultural Student Affairs does not have a programming budget for diversity events though we actively collaborate with the Center for Multicultural Experiences for cultural programming. Students, faculty, staff, and community members should contact Mary Bonderoff at the Center for Multicultural Experiences for possible program sponsorship or Center availability. AALANA Mentor ProgrammingWhile the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs does not sponsor event programming, the AALANA Mentor Program does do some programming specifically for mentor program participants which are always free and open to the campus. Examples of these programs include: Student Forums on Identity, Career Panels, Community Organizing Strategies, and Leadership to name just a few. |
Diversity TrainingsThe Coordinator for Multicultural Student Affairs does regular training sessions with campus leaders such as Resident Advisors, Academic Team Members, and student organizations in the area of diversity awareness and sensitivity, multicultural education, interrupting bias in the residence halls, and stereotyping in the residence halls to name just a few. Faculty and staff trainings include all of the above as well as Diversity Customer Service Skills, Social History of Diversity and Language, Negotiating the Difference between Political Correctness and Valuing Diversity, and Managing Diversity. Admissions ProgrammingThe Multicultural Student Affairs office also works with the Admissions Office to produce co-sponsored multicultural recruitment events to give prospective AALANA students the opportunity to meet and interact with current Oneonta students. For more information on these programs contact the Admissions office or call (607) 436-3007 or (800) SUNY-123. |
