6th Annual Kente Graduation Recognition Ceremony


Kente Call for Participation to all students

To all seniors graduating in May, August, or December 2014.

We invite your participation in the 6th Annual Kente Graduation Recognition Ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 6:00p.m. in the Hunt Union Ballroom.

This event recognizes the achievements of our diverse student population – AALANA and Non AALANA students and allies. All students graduating in May, August, or December of 2014 wishing to participate are welcome. All participants will receive a swatch of Kente cloth to wear at commencement. Please RSVP if you would like to be part of the Kente Graduation Recognition Ceremony by sending an e-mail to Bernadette Tiapo (bernadette.tiapo@oneonta.edu).

  • Indicate “Yes to Kente Graduation” in the subject line. 
  • Make sure to include the following in the body of the e-mail:

i. the name(s) of a significant faculty, friend or family member you would like to
   have attend the ceremony,
ii. Your response to the questions:

  • What do you feel is your most meaningful accomplishment in the last four years?”
  • “What are your future plans?” (optional).

If you do not send us the response your name will appear in the program booklet without the additional information.

  • Respond by Friday, March 28, 2014 to be included in the program booklet.
  • You will still be able to participate in the ceremony if you RSVP after March 28th, however your name will not be included in the program booklet.
