Background of the Harvey Delaney Leadership Institute |
The 24th Annual Leadership Institute is scheduled for March 25th and 26th 2011 in the Hunt College Union. Applications are currently available and the deadline to apply is Friday, February 18th at close of business.
While all students are welcome, the Institute is designed to provide graduating students with the tools necessary to translate the leadership skills they have developed here at Oneonta into those that will work in the workplace and/or graduate school.
The institute runs from 4:30 PM on Friday March 25th through 5 PM on Saturday March 26th and is limited to 125 participants. The program includes educational sessions, meals, a keynote speaker, and other plenary sessions. Business attire is appropriate for the event.
Plenary Speakers/Sessions:
- Tracy Knofla lives by the motto, "If it's not fun, I'm not doing it!" She's adamant that training is serious business that does not have to be serious. With over 25 years of experience, Tracy has conducted hundreds of presentations for thousands of people across the country. Tracy Knofla Tracy holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Southern Connecticut State University. She spent 11 years working at Indiana University Southeast as a college administrator. Tracy also served as Director of Therapeutic Recreation at several long-term care facilities in Connecticut. Currently Tracy is a co-owner and a featured presenter for High Impact Training, a nationally recognized training and development company. A sought after presenter, Tracy travels an average of 200 days per year speaking to college, corporate, and non-profit audiences on issues of chaos, customer service, organizational effectiveness and teambuilding.
- Robert A. Shutt started RASolutions.net to offer Business Dining Etiquette and Professional Etiquette presentations to colleges, universities, businesses, and professional organizations. This remains his primary mission. Robert's etiquette expertise has been featured on CBS Evening News. He presents on a national level and his message has reached thousands of students and professionals. He belongs to many professional organizations including the American Society for Training and Development. Robert began his public speaking career in 1997, to accommodate requests received after his initial Business Dining Etiquette presentation. He began teaching and training in 1982 while serving as an adjunct professor. Since then he has served as an assistant professor, training and development specialist, and university administrator. Robert has a Master's Degree in Education, two Bachelor's Degrees in Business Administration, and has completed an additional fifty hours of graduate work in Labor and Human Resources, Business Administration, and Guidance and Counseling. This background and his commitment to professional development help keep his presentation style fresh and the content current. His philosophy can be simply stated: "Courtesy counts and manners matter."
