Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Inc.

In 1981 Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Incorporated, was established as the First Multicultural Greek letter organization in the nation. On March 26th 2005, The Nysa Chapter was established as the 26th chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. Founded by seven women from different walks of life, came together to promote the goals of this great organization: academic excellence, unity among all women and to be active in the university and community.

Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Inc. is proud to be the first and largest multicultural sorority! Our five founders built a foundation to unite all women regardless of race, religion, and creed. Today, with sisters representing over 89 countries and nationalities, we are proud to say we have achieved a sisterhood which is quite diverse with respect to not only race, but religious heritage, geographic origin, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, nationality, political ideology, and even choice of major and career.

Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Incorporated is also the First Minority/ Multicultural Sorority to be recognized by The College at Oneonta in 2005, and the First minority organization to be elected on the Executive Board of Oneonta's Inter- Greek Council. Sisters  today continue to uphold the traditions that began in 1981.

Today Mu Sigma Upsilon (MSU) has grown to a membership of over 1000 women with recognized chapters reaching from Connecticut all the way across to Texas and expanding rapidly. Although the 21st century poses different challenges for college women, one thing remains the same – Mu Sigma Upsilon is still a home away from home for all its sisters and together, women can do more than they ever thought possible.
