Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.

Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. was established as an academic sorority at Kean University in 1975 by 17 founding mothers and was the first Latin sorority in the nation. They are a non exclusionary organization, and their purpose is to create a support group for women in higher education and to unite the campus community.

Lambda Theta Alpha has recieved full recognition from the college!

In the Fall of 2007, a strong and courageous woman noticed the need for an organization that could cater to the needs of ALL women and bring unity to the State University at Oneonta. Determined to leave a legacy behind, she decided to take action and established an interest group. Over time, it grew and a dream was born. These lovely ladies began working endlessly to achieve their goals. They participated in community service, fundraised, and supported other organizations on campus.

The interested ladies faced great obstacles and lost some members along the way, but each time, new women joined this undeniable force and made it better than ever before. This difficult journey hand selected the women who would become the founders of today. In the Fall of 2010, the interests received news that would change their lives forever. After four years, they were given the opportunity to create a new chapter in their lives and in the national sorority they had grown to love and cherish. A founding line of eight motivated women created Epsilon Mu Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated, and they continue to be a success and an active part of the campus community.
