The Health and Wellness Center offers:
Assessment and treatment of acute illness/injury, monitoring of chronic illness, and referrals to specialists arranged as needed.
Laboratory/X-rays ordered and blood samples drawn. On-site urinalysis, pregnancy test, etc. (Any student requiring lab work ordered by their private health care provider must have a written order from the provider before it can be drawn at the Health and Wellness Center).
Emergency first aid rendered and ambulance service arranged to local hospital emergency room. Students sustaining injuries from a motor vehicle accident, past or present, will not be seen at the Health and Wellness Center. They must be evaluated at the local hospital emergency department and/or followed up by their private health care provider.
A limited number of prescription and over-the-counter medications are stocked and dispensed according to need at no additional charge to the student. There is a nominal charge for a few prescription items, such as Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECP's), certain contraceptives, Albuterol Inhalers, and some vaccines. Prescriptions will be written by a Health Center Provider for any medication needed and not stocked, and these prescriptions can be filled at the pharmacy of the student's choice in New York State.
One bed unit is provided for short-term observation.
Follow-up and counseling provided for pre-existing conditions and problems (except motor vehicle accidents)
Healthy life style assessment and counseling provided in nutrition, substance abuse, self exam, safer sex, etc.

The Health and Wellness Center acts as coordinator of emergency services in cases of public disaster on campus
The Health and Wellness Center provides gynecological evaluations, including routine exams and pap smears; breast exams; contraceptive education and counseling; STD diagnosis, treatment, and counseling; and evaluation of minor gynecologic complaints. Birth control pills may be purchased at the Health and Wellness Center after after a visit with a provider is completed (a full gynocologic exam is not requirred to begin a birth control method. Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECP) are available at the Health and Wellness Center. There is no additional Health and Wellness Center charge for these services with the exception of some laboratory tests/screens, and nominal charges for birth control pills and Emergency Contraceptive Pills . Any charges for off-site laboratory testing that is required is the responsibility of the student/student's insurance.
The Health and Wellness Center provides STD diagnosis, treatment, and counseling; evaluation and treatment of minor genito-urinary complaints; testicular exams; and contraceptive counseling. There is no additional Health and Wellness Center charge for this service, with the exception of possible charges for laboratory tests/screens. Any charges for off-site laboratory testing that is required is the responsibility of the student/student's insurance.
Immunization and Vaccines
The Health and Wellness Center offers several immunizations and vaccines that can be acquired throughout the school year. Influenza Vaccine (flu shot) is offered in the fall semester at no charge. Hepatitis A Vaccine (series of two injections), and Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) (series of two injections) are offered at a nominal charge. Meningitis Vaccine (one injection) and MMR can also be obtained at the local public health department. Tetanus Toxoid vaccine is available when medically necessary. Students may receive cryosurgical treatments, commonly known as "freezing", for removal of common warts and benign skin lesions,. Treatments are scheduled by appointment only and may require one to four treatments per wart/skin lesion. Written educational information about this procedure is available at the Health and Wellness Center upon request. There is no additional charge for this procedure.
The Health and Wellness Center has available nebulizer treatment with albuteral (Proventil/Ventolin) for asthmatic students who are suffering from acute exacerbations of their asthma and need short term therapeutic support in addition to their regular asthma medications. There is no additional charge for this service. Except in emergencies, an appointment with a provider for evaluation is required before receiving a nebulizer treatment.
The Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is composed of students, faculty and staff. It serves in an advisory nature to the Health and Wellness Center on issues such as policy, staff, programs, services, and fees. SHAC encourages input from all Health and Wellness Center clients.
