The Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) and the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) at SUNY Oneonta are happy to announce the second annual SUNY Pride Conference at Hunt College Union in Oneonta on October 24th-26th, 2014! Delegates from all SUNY system campuses are invited to attend this landmark conference. The mission of SUNY Pride is to unite SUNY campuses to create a more inclusive environment for the SUNY system as a whole. Through education, collaboration, networking, and inclusivity, SUNY Pride will encourage students, faculty and staff to become au courant with the policies, facilities, accessibilities, and trainings of other institutions within the SUNY system..
This year, the conference will have a specific focus on developing student leadership within diverse gender and sexuality communities. Workshop programs will focus on: building strong leadership, coalition building, addressing microaggressions and more.
Using the professional networks of the planning committee and the Consortium of LGBT Higher Education Resource Professionals, we are planning to offer focused training for delegates from each SUNY campus in leadership development.
We are seeking the broadest possible representation from the SUNY system in order to develop leadership skills among with diverse sexual and gender identities. Therefore, we are asking each SUNY campus to sponsor no more than 2 student leaders and 1 professional staff member to attend the conference as delegates.
Collecting data on marginalized communities can offer the first step to addressing these issues throughout the SUNY system.
Blocks have been set-aside for conference attendees at both of the following hotels. Please mention SUNY Pride Conference when booking your room(s).
All of us here at SUNY Oneonta are working to create the most inclusive environment for all SUNY students, and look forward to welcoming our community and allies on campus for this event!
