Orientation for Freshman Students
Congratulations on making SUNY Oneonta the destination for your academic future. In order to make that future a reality, all new students are required to attend an orientation session before they begin attending classes. SUNY Oneonta's Orientation has three distinct components: an online pre-orientation piece, an in-person session, and programmatic initiatives during the first few weeks of each semester. Students will receive the same information and appropriate advisement at all sessions.
Students who attended a session in July will move into their residence halls on August 23 or 24. Classes will begin the 25th of August.
Students who are attending the August 21-22 session will move into their room assignment between 8am-11:30am on the 21st. Orientation will start at 12:30pm. The August schedule is available here.
Information on how to enroll in a session will be available in MyOneonta. As you review the dates, please keep in mind that we are only able to accommodate 140 students at each of the July sessions. These sessions do fill up and close, so students need to respond promptly. We do not take walk-in registration at any orientation session; students must enroll in a session.
We are also able to offer a concurrent orientation program for parents/adult family members at the July orientation session. This option will incur a separate fee of $95 per person.
Program fees are subject to review and may change.
