Transfer Traditions

Transfer TraditionsEvery semester, New Student Services collaborates with offices on campus to provide stellar programs and events for transfer students. Some of these traditions are New Student Success Series, Transfer Student Mentors, and the Transfer Student Club. You can find more information about each tradition below.

Transfers In the LEAD

The purpose of this conference is to provide SUNY Oneonta transfer students with leadership skills and resources that they can utilize throughout their time at Oneonta, as well as post-graduation.

Choose from our various breakout sessions, find your top 5 strengths using StreghtsQuest, and hear from our featured speaker Cassandra Mullinex, Career Development Counselor. LEAD credit will be awarded to all participants for the breakout sessions and featured speaker.

Save the Date! Transfers in the LEAD will be September 15! Check back here for registration.

New Student Success Series

An important aspect of our campus is the opportunity for students to develop their leadership potential. Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) credit is available to all students and all you have to do is attend programs and events.

The New Student Services Office invites members of the campus to discuss their resources and how they will specifically help transfer students through a series of programs called The New Student Success Series (NS3). Not only will transfers learn more about what resources are available to them, but they will also gain valuable LEAD credit. Some topics in the past included: Internships, Alumni Engagement, Credit Transfer Process, and many more!

Transfer students can count their involvement in clubs/organizations as well as previous even attendance at their prior institution(s) towards LEAD@Oneonta credit. Email to learn more.

Check back here for dates for the Fall semester!

Transition Team Members

The Transition Team Members are a group of students who are specifically trained to help new students navigate their first semester. These peer mentors send out weekly emails to their mentees and also host programs and socials throughout the year. Would you like to learn more about the TTM program? Email us at!

Apply to be a TTM in January 2018!

Transfer Student Club

Any and all are welcome to join the Transfer Student Club! Created just last year, this club is dedicated to making sure each transfer student has a place on campus. They meet every Wednesday at 8:00pm in 105 Fitzelle Hall. Check them out on Facebook, Instagram, or Campus Connection.
