Work-Study Program

The Federal Work-Study employment program gives students the opportunity to earn money during the school year. The amount of the award represents the maximum that a student may earn. Students are paid bi-weekly and usually earn minimum wage. These funds cannot be used to defer charges.

If your award letter contains a Federal Work-Study (FWS) Award you will receive an email (we start sending these in early July) from us with a link to the Student Guide to Federal Work Study (FWS). This guide will provide you with instructions on how to obtain a FWS position.

Note: Financial aid awards are contingent upon the college receiving adequate federal funds to support these programs. In the event of any changes, you will be notified. State and federal budget discussions may lead to changes in funding levels, cost increases or regulatory changes.

In addition to the Federal Work-Study Program, the SUNY Oneonta Career Development Center provides students access to part-time employment information both on and off-campus through its Student Employment Service. The Career Development office is located in the Netzer Administration Building, Room 110.
