Starting Your Credential Folder

What is a Credential Folder?!

A credential folder contains material that supports your application for jobs and admission to graduate school, and includes letters of recommendation. The contents of the folder is maintained by the Career Development Center (CDC) and forwarded to potential employers or graduate schools subsequent to a candidate’s request.

It is important to note that a credential folder is only supporting material, and for some, the folder may never be requested. Research shows those persons interested in education and human service careers are more likely to use this service. There are exceptions, however, and graduates from all disciplines should seriously consider using the service.

As this is a voluntary service, it is the candidate’s responsibility to establish and update their folder.

Starting Your Credential Folder

  1.  Log into DragonLink using your full SUNY Oneonta email address as your username and the temporary password you received in your welcome message.  (If you are a SUNY Oneonta alumnus/a who graduated before 2008 and do not have a DragonLink account, please email to open an account and request your letters to be transferred to the new electronic system.)

  2. Click on the Credentials tab.

  3. Your first login will require you to fill out the Personal Data Form tab, and click “Save”.


  4. Your Credential Folder is ready!
