We offer a number of Orientation sessions in the Spring, Summer and Fall that are
specifically designed for transfer students. If you are entering in the
Fall semester then you must attend either a Summer Orientation Session or
the August Session. Spring admits attend Orientation the three days prior
to the beginning of classes. All students are required to attend an
orientation session. During Orientation, you will meet in three different
groups to learn about your degree requirements and to prepare for making
your schedule. There is a general advisement meeting where the overall
College requirements and the transfer credit evaluation process are
explained. You will then meet in a smaller group with faculty from
your major. After this, you will have an individual appointment to meet
with a faculty from your chosen major. It is at this point that students
register for their first semester of courses at Oneonta. Registration
appointment times are given in order of most completed credits to least.
Therefore it is imperative that the Admissions Office receives your final
transcript before you come to Orientation.
