Requests for change of major are made on a standard request form available in the Academic Advisement Office. Approval is required by the
chairpersons of the major department(s) concerned. When students transfer
from one curriculum to another, their academic records are evaluated on
the basis of the new program requirements. This may result in a loss of
credit. In general, it is the practice to approve a transfer of
curriculum only if the student has at least a 2.0 GPA in the courses that
will be required in the new program. Students are expected to complete,
with a minimum 2.0 GPA, the major requirements in effect at the time the
new major is declared. Students wishing to declare an Education major
must meet the minimum GPA requirements in place at the time of their
declaration which in most cases is a 2.80.
