Financial Aid

SUNY Oneonta believes that all qualified students should be able to afford a post-secondary education. The Financial Aid Office counselors and staff are available to help families whose resources are inadequate to meet the full cost of education.

Scholarships

Freshman Awards
All qualified freshmen applicants are considered for scholarships. The Scholarship Selection Committee will determine which students are eligible based on the selection criteria for individual awards and on information submitted as part of the admissions application, including GPA and SAT or ACT scores. If financial need is a selection criteria, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be used.

For serious consideration for a scholarship, it is important to file the application for admission as early in the senior year of high school as possible. The first awards are made in mid-January. The FAFSA should be filed as soon after January 1st as possible. Scholarships are only awarded to students entering in the Fall.

Transfer Awards
SUNY Oneonta provides scholarship opportunities for transfer students. Transfer students will be considered if a student has a 3.5 GPA or better, or who are members of Phi Theta Kappa earning an associate's degree and who will be direct transfers. Scholarships are only awarded to students entering in the Fall.

All qualified transfer applicants are considered for a scholarship. There are no additional applications for scholarships other than the application for admission and if financial need is a selection criteria, the FAFSA will be used.

Student Accounts

The Student Accounts Office is committed to assisting you by providing information and answering your questions about College billing, payment and financial aid disbursements.
