Freshman Admissions Counselor |
I would first like to take this opportunity to say thank you for visiting SUNY College at Oneonta’s webpage! As you continue to explore our website, I am sure that you will find useful information that will help you through your college selection process.
As an Oneonta State graduate myself, I know that I made the right decision by coming here. When I came as a freshman in 2002, I was a dual major in adolescent education and English. In addition, I was a member of the women’s soccer team (where I played goalkeeper), and one year later in 2003, the team had won the NCAA National Championship. That was a life-changing moment for my teammates and I, and from that day forward, none of us ever looked back or settled for anything less than the best. As a four-year varsity letter earner and a two-year captain, I found that Oneonta State had helped me develop my time-management skills, my dedication to academics as well as extracurricular activities, and most importantly, I found myself as an adult. Adolescence is a difficult time, and it was my college years that changed my life for the better.
I cannot speak on behalf of any other colleges, but I know that Oneonta State is a place that emphasizes community, unity, and life-long learning. I completely understand the complicated mess/confusion that the college selection process can cause you. However, I ask that you come and visit Oneonta State and come see this beautiful campus and meet the faculty, administrators, and students. Its scenic views are like no other, and the education that you will take with you both inside and outside of the classroom is incomparable.
Although I have only recently graduated in May 2006, I can honestly say that there is no other place I would rather be than here in Oneonta, New York. Being away from my family (hometown of Mechanicville, NY) has not been difficult one bit, and a major part of that is because Oneonta provides that sense of comfort.
I wish you luck in all of your future endeavors and I hope that attending Oneonta State is a part of them. Please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone. I look forward to speaking or meeting with you. Thank you. |
