1) Why do you raise money by calling?
The College at Oneonta has found that a phone call is the most cost-effective and personal way to reach all of our alumni, parents, and friends this year to talk with them about The Fund for Oneonta and to update their records.
The Phonathon program operates during the academic year, with two 11 week calling programs in the fall and spring semesters. The money raised supports scholarships, academic programs, library resources, faculty recruitment, and other special projects.
2) When does the Phonathon program make it's calls?
Oneonta's Phonathon calls alumni, parents and friends Sunday through Thursday of each week during the academic year.
3) Why are Phonathon calls made during the evenings and weekends?
Most of the alumni that we call tend to be home in the evenings and on the weekends. This also allows for our student callers to balance their job around their class schedules.
4) Who makes the Phonathon calls?
The callers of Oneonta's Phonathon program are comprised entirely of current College at Oneonta students. Phonathon students are paid representatives of the College and they represent almost every academic department on campus.
