Faculty/Professional Staff Diversity Research Grant Program NEW!

Through the College at Oneonta Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Action (IDEA) Grant Program, a total of $2,500 is available to support research conducted by faculty or professional staff at SUNY Oneonta in the areas of diversity and equity that is both current and locally/nationally/globally relevant. The program encourages projects that inform policy, practice and education, involve students in all aspects of the research, and are collaborative in nature. Funding requests may not exceed $2,500. The number of awards and amount of each award will be contingent on the number of proposals received that are deemed competitive through a multidisciplinary review committee and close scrutiny of budget requests. The Diversity Research Grant program is coordinated by the Grants Development Office (GDO). Fiscal policies, procedures and oversight related to grant funding is administered by the Office of Sponsored Programs.

The purpose of this funding is to support the expense of faculty research activities. Research is defined as "investigation that adds to a body of knowledge in a given field." The improvement of instruction is an inherent result of research, but is not considered as meeting the primary qualification of this program. Funding is not for research to be performed by students, for the completion of a dissertation, creative activity, or work that is being completed under a contract for which payment will be received. Awards are made for up to $2,500.

The purpose of this funding is to support creative work conducted by faculty or staff in areas including but not limited to creative writing, music, theater and the visual arts, in order to enhance the presence of arts on campus. Funding is not for creative work done by students, for the completion of a dissertation, or work that is being completed under a contract for which payment will be received. It does not fund curriculum or course development other than that which inherently occurs as the result of creative work. Awards are for up to $1,500.
