In order to comply with federal regulations regarding the protection of human subjects in research, all human subjects research (sponsored research, i.e. research conducted by individual investigators and by external agencies; organized research, i.e. supported research of a group of investigators in a designated institution or center; and institutional/department research, i.e. research supported by department budget or individual professor(s) in State University College, Oneonta research facilities, classroom instruction, and field studies) must comply with the federal and state laws for the "Protection of Human Subjects." The College at Oneonta Institutional Review Board is responsible for review of all proposals involving human subjects.
If you are conducting research involving human subjects, please complete the IRB review form (.doc), and return it to the Grants Development Office via email to Kim Muller (mullerkk@oneonta.edu) or mail to 27 Bacon Hall. The IRB will review your proposal information and will contact you regarding any additional requirements.
In addition, the College subscribes to the CITI course (Collaborative IRB Training Initiative) which provides a web-based program of training modules in human research subjects protection. Student and faculty researchers involving human subjects will be required to complete the CITI web-based course before receiving final IRB approval to conduct their proposed research. The CITI course can be accessed at www.citiprogram.org. New users can sign up under the SUNY College at Oneonta link and will be asked to set up a username and password. The course is self-directed. If you have any questions on the CITI program, please contact the Program Administrator, Kim Muller at mullerkk@oneonta.edu. |
