Created in 2008 to recognize faculty service both in and outside the classroom, the Ashok Kumar Malhotra Seva (Compassionate Service) Faculty Award is made possible by an endowment from SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Philosophy Ashok Kumar Malhotra to the College at Oneonta Foundation. Criteria for the $1,000 award, which is given each fall, include: community service, the ability to motivate and inspire others to perform community service, and the integration of community service in the teaching and learning process.
Awarded each fall, the Richard Siegfried Junior Faculty Prize for Academic Excellence recognizes a non-tenured faculty member for outstanding academic achievement outside the classroom. The prize is made possible by gifts from alumni to the college and by a special gift from Alice Siegfried in memory of her husband, theater Professor Richard K. Siegfried, who taught at SUNY Oneonta from 1958 to 1995.
Created to recognize faculty achievement outside the classroom, the Susan Sutton Smith Faculty Prize for Academic Excellence is named in memory of the late SUNY Oneonta professor of English. The prize, awarded each spring, is made possible by an endowment created through the generosity of Dr. Thomas Smith and Mrs. Mary Smith in memory of their daughter, Susan, and in honor of her commitment to academic excellence.
