Academic Achievement
Charles A. Belden Scholarship -
This Scholarship, maintained by Patricia B. Carlson and Brian R. Wright, is for students who are Oneonta High School graduates and have demonstrated continuous academic achievement. It is renewable if the student’s cumulative GPA is 2.75 or higher.
College at Oneonta Foundation's 25th Anniversary Scholarship
- This Scholarship is awarded to entering Freshmen who have demonstrated academic achievement and have a cumulative high school GPA of 95 or higher. This is renewable providing the student’s cumulative GPA is 3.3 or higher. This Scholarship has been in existence since 2002 and was founded and funded by the College at Oneonta Foundation Board of Directors.
Elsie Lorenz Frost Scholarship -This Scholarship is awarded to one entering Freshman who has demonstrated outstanding academic performance and the ability to succeed, and is funded by Dr. James Frost. This Scholarship has been in existence since 2003 and was founded by Dr. Frost in memory of Mrs. Frost who generously gave her time and energy through numerous community organizations to strengthen the Oneonta community and the College at Oneonta.
Mildred J. Haight '22 Memorial Scholarship
- Awarded to Freshmen students who have maintained a high school GPA of 90 or higher. This is renewable providing the cumulative GPA is at least a 3.0. This scholarship is awarded for four years. This Scholarship has been in existence since 1996, funded through the late Ms. Haight’s estate.
Thomas M. Hughson Scholarship -
This Scholarship is awarded to a Freshman who is an Oneonta High School graduate, or a graduate within a 20 mile radius of Oneonta who demonstrates academic achievement, and who is not eligible for Clark Foundation scholarship aid. This Scholarship is renewable for up to three years providing the student maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75. Thomas and Susan Hughson established and have been funding this Scholarship since 1997.
Kathryn Brady McGrath '12 Scholarship -
This Scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement to Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors. Although not an automatically renewable scholarship, students who receive it may reapply to receive it again for the next academic year. This Scholarship is funded through the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation, courtesy of Mr. George McGrath, since 1982.

Accounting
John '88 and Claudia DeMelis "Founders Scholarship in Accounting" -
This Scholarship is awarded to students who are Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors. Students must be Professional Accounting majors, having completed at least 12 or more semester hours in the Accounting curriculum. The major and overall GPA must be at least 3.3, and preference is given to students who demonstrate community service or volunteer work involvement OR be a non-traditional student who bear significant financial responsibility for funding his/her education. Funded and founded by John and Claudia DeMelis, this scholarship was established in 2007.
Economics and Business Scholarship - This Scholarship is awarded to students at the Sophomore, Junior or Senior class year levels. The student must be an Accounting, Business Economics or Economics major with at least a 3.3 major and cumulative GPA and at least 12 or more semester hours in the Accounting, Business Economics or Economics curriculum. This has been in existence since 2003, and funded from the gifts of alumni, faculty and staff.

Africana and Latino Studies
Dr. Ralph R. Watkins Scholarship in African American Life and
History - This Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who is majoring in Africana and Latino Studies or who is in a program focusing on African American culture. The student must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8 and demonstrate service to social justice. This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of family, friends, colleagues and alumni in memory of Dr. Ralph R. Watkins, Professor Emeritus, Departments of Africana and Latino Studies and History.

Art
Lloyd Terrence Kennedy Scholarship for Arts Majors
- This scholarship is awarded to art majors of Sophomore, Junior or Senior status. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need and are interested in drawing, painting and sculpting. This scholarship may be renewed annually and was founded in 2004 from the estate and friends of Lloyd Terrance Kennedy.

Biology
Jan Kee Ang Scholarship - This Scholarship is awarded to one Freshman and one Junior declared Biology majors. This scholarship is renewable if the cumulative and Biology GPA are at least 3.0. Freshman consideration is based on high school merit; the student must be within the top 10% with SAT scores, top 10% with high school average and demonstrate community service involvement. Junior consideration is based on Freshman and Sophomore college performance; the student must have successfully completed a minimum of four biology courses with a cumulative and Biology GPA of at least 3.0. The student may not receive both the Jan Kee Ang and John G. New scholarships. This Scholarship was founded by friends and colleagues in memory of Dr. Ang in 1989.
Biology Department Scholarship -
This Scholarship is awarded to one Sophomore Biology major who demonstrates academic achievement with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. The Scholarship is renewable providing the student maintains the minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. This Scholarship was founded in memory of Dr. William D. Wilson in 1996.
Dr. and Mrs. John and Mary Constantine Scholarship
- This Scholarship is awarded to students who are intended majors of the following science fields: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Science Education or Pre-Professional Studies for Medical, Dental or Osteopathic Schools. Selected students must also demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. This Scholarship may be awarded for the remainder of the student’s time, up to a total of four years at the College, providing the student maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3, demonstrates financial need and continued academic commitment to the Science, Science Education or Pre-Professional Studies. This Scholarship was founded in 1998 by the sons of Dr. and Mrs. John Constantine in their memory.
Dr. William J. and Marjorie M. Pietraface Biology Scholarship -
This endowed Scholarship was created in 2009 through the gifts of Dr. William J. and Marjorie M. Pietraface through Visions <->Solutions, The Fund for Science and Technology. This award will be made to students, freshman through senior year, who are majoring in Biology, including Human Biology, Ecology and Field Biology and Cell and Molecular Biology Tracks, and Adolescent Education Biology majors. These students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need.
Dr. Wilbur J. Settle Scholarship -
This endowed Scholarship was created in 2009 through the gifts of Dr. Will Settle, Professor Emeritus, Biology, in support of Visions <-> Solutions, The Fund for Science and Technology. This award will be made to either full time or part time undergraduate students who are biology majors, contingent upon the awardee(s) maintaining a GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Michael '87 and Deborah '87 Curcio Scholarship - This Scholarship is awarded to students who are majoring in one of the following fields: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Earth Science, Physics or Astronomy. Additionally, students may receive this scholarship who are “average” and may not qualify for other types of scholarships based on perceived lack of financial need or academic performance below a specific level. Providing the students continue to meet the above criteria, this Scholarship may be renewed annually. Michael and Deborah Curcio founded and have funded this scholarship since 2008.
Michael David Kevles '93 Scholarship - This Scholarship was founded and funded by Joseph and Ellen Kevles in 2003 in memory of their son, Michael David Kevles. This Scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a Pre-Medicine major or who will be pursuing a career in Medicine. Consideration will also be given to an undergraduate student who will be studying in Israel as part of a program through the College at Oneonta. This Scholarship is renewable.
John G. New Scholarship - This Scholarship was founded in memory of Dr. John G. New in 1997 and funded by gifts from alumni, friends and family. Juniors or Seniors may be awarded this Scholarship, providing they are majoring in Ecology, Environmental Science or Biology, are interested in research and have proven academic achievement. This award is renewable.
Dr. Hans Wilk Scholarship -
This Scholarship is awarded to a Pre-Medicine Sophomore, Junior or Senior. This award is renewable, providing the students maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.

This endowed Scholarship was created in 2009 through the gifts of John M. and Carol A. Burkhart, who are both graduates of SUNY Oneonta, Class of 1968. John and Carol are endowing this Scholarship for students majoring in Science Education (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science of Physics) as a part of Visions <-> Solutions: The Fund for Science and Technology. Students must also demonstrate a need for financial aid. This award is renewable providing students maintain a GPA of at least 2.8.

- This Scholarship is available to students who are declared Chemistry, Biochemistry or Secondary Education Chemistry majors. In order to be eligible, students must have completed at least eight semester hours of Chemistry and have a cumulative and major GPA of at least 3.0. This scholarship can be renewed annually providing the student maintains the GPA. This Scholarship was created from the gifts of alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department in 2007.

Dr. Carl M. Horner Scholarship - Dr. Horner, Professor Emeritus; Chemistry, founded this scholarship in 2007. He is the primary funder for this Scholarship. This award will be given to students majoring in Chemistry or Biochemistry, in support of the Campaign for Science and Technology. This Scholarship can be renewed annually.
Michael David Kevles '93 Scholarship - This Scholarship was founded and funded by Joseph and Ellen Kevles in 2003 in memory of their son, Michael David Kevles. Fiona Bremner Lagani ’84 and Daniel Lagani ’85 Scholarship -
This endowed Scholarship was created in 2008 from the gifts of Fiona Bremner Lagani, Class of 1984, and Daniel Lagani, Class of 1985. This award will be given to undergraduate students who are Communication Arts majors, who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and who demonstrate a high need for financial aid. This award may be renewed annually.
Eugene Lesser Scholarship
- This Scholarship was founded and funded by Craig Lesser in memory of his father, Mr. Eugene Lesser, in 2001. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who are Communication Arts majors, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and demonstrated financial need are eligible. This award is renewable contingent on the students maintaining the criteria listed above.

Community Service and Leadership
Margaret E. Cawley and Jean D. London Scholarship
- The College Foundation established this Scholarship in 1994 to honor Ms. Cawley, former librarian and Ms. London, former faculty member. This Scholarship exemplifies these ladies commitment to volunteerism and community organizations. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who maintain at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0, are an active member of the Center for Social Responsibility and Community and an active volunteer on or off campus and in their home communities are eligible for this award.
Harvey R. Delaney, Jr. Memorial Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created in 2009 from the generous gifts of family, friends, students and colleagues in memory of Harvey R. Delaney, Jr. Harvey touched the lives of many students and was a role model, not only for students, but for educators and community leaders as well. This award is given annually to a student who has participated in the Harvey R. Delaney, Jr. Leadership Institute and has demonstrated student leadership at the SUNY College at Oneonta. This Scholarship is non-renewable.
Alan B. Donovan Scholarship -
Established in 2007 as a tribute to the College’s sixth President, the College at Oneonta Alumni Association, the College at Oneonta Foundation and gifts from alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends funded this scholarship in honor of Dr. Alan B. Donovan. This Scholarship will be awarded to “average” students who may not qualify for other types of scholarships (a perceived lack of financial need or academic performance below a specific level.) Students must demonstrate community or college service and a strong work ethic. Providing students continue to meet above criteria, this scholarship may be renewed annually.
Carol Henning Donovan Memorial Scholarship
- This Scholarship was established after the sudden passing of Mrs. Donovan in 1995, and funded by family, friends, faculty and staff. It is awarded to students who demonstrate community service and maintained at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in high school. Although not a renewable scholarship, students who receive it may reapply for this award.
Kathleen M. Jermyn '90 Scholarship
- This Scholarship was founded by John Jermyn in 2004 and funded by Mr. Jermyn, family and the Class of 1981 in memory of his sister. This award will be given to students who are in good academic standing and have demonstrated a high need for financial aid. The students selected shall personify the involvement Kathleen had with her College by being involved in student organizations, athletic activities or college service.
Albert S. and Alice House Nader Scholarship
- This Scholarship was founded in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Nader in 1994. Students must be from Otsego, Chenango or Delaware counties who show promise of or who have demonstrated leadership. This may be awarded to an incoming freshman or a current student and is renewable on a yearly basis.
Robert W. MacVittie '44 Scholarship
- This Scholarship was founded in memory of Dr. Robert MacVittie and funded by the College at Oneonta Alumni Association in 1997. This award will be given to one incoming Legacy Student (son or daughter of an alumnus or alumna), who has demonstrated academic achievement and community service.
Stella Mae Miller Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created from the gifts of members of the Alpha Kappa Phi Sorority, established in memory of Stella Mae Miller, housemother of Alpha Kappa Phi for nearly thirty years. This scholarship is awarded to recognize women who demonstrate the leadership qualities that Mrs. Miller taught to others. This Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior female who exhibits leadership qualities through college and community service, with financial need and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. This award is renewable providing the student continues to meet the above listed criteria.
Irene G. Posthill Scholarship -
This Scholarship was established in 1987 by Beatrice Cramer ’20 and alumna in memory of Irene Posthill, a member of the faculty of the Oneonta Normal School from 1916-1953, in the Music and Art Departments. Junior and Senior females are eligible with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, have held leadership roles in organizations or activities both on and off campus and have made significant contributions to their college and home community. Financial need is considered. This Scholarship is renewable providing the students continue to meet the above stated criteria.
Garth Stam Scholarship -
Established in 1998 in honor of Garth Stam, Head Men’s Soccer Coach from 1960-1996, this Scholarship is funded from the gifts of Garth and Jean Stam, alumni and friends. This will be awarded to students who demonstrate financial need, college and community service through volunteer activities and who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Preference may be given to International Students who have completed one fully year at the College. This Scholarship is renewable providing students continue to meet the above critieria.
Student Association Leadership Scholarship
- The Student Association established and have funded this Scholarship since its inception in 2006. The preference for this award will be student activity fee paying students who have demonstrated leadership and service in their own communities and/or demonstrated a role in student leadership here at the College. This award will be presented to one freshman and one upperclassman, and is automatically renewable.n
Glenn J. Winuk '83 Humanitarian Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2002 from the gifts of family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Winuk, along with the Holland and Knight Charitable Foundation. This Scholarship in memory of Glenn honors his commitment to service and to helping others, as he did as a volunteer firefighter for nineteen years and at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. This award will be given to students who demonstrate a record of commitment to community service, demonstrate academic achievement and have financial need. This scholarship is renewable providing students continue to meet above criteria.

Bart Ingersoll Criminal Justice Scholarship
- Established in 2001, this Scholarship was founded and funded with gifts from Bart Ingersoll. This award will be given to a student who is pursuing course studies in criminal justice or who is a student-athlete of exceptional character. This award can be renewed annually, providing the above conditions are continuously met.

M. Ira Dubins Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of Bruce Dubins, son of Mortimer Ira Dubins. This Scholarship is named in honor and in memory of Professor M. Ira Dubins, who was passionate about his teaching and who had an illustrious 30-year career on the faculty of the Earth Sciences Department at the College at Oneonta. This award will be given to current students who are majors in one of the Earth Sciences and who have demonstrated academic achievement and a strong work ethic. The donor has chosen not to specify a grade point average, leaving that to the discretion of the awarding Department.
Excellence in Water Resources,
Geology, and Earth Science Scholarship - Created from the gifts of Margaret V. Palmer and Dr. Arthur N. Palmer, Professor Emeritus, this Scholarship was founded in 2007 as an incentive for students to continue their academic excellence in the fields of Water Resources, Geology and Earth Science. The award will be given to Sophomores or Juniors who have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8. One-half of the award amount shall be given to a student majoring in Water Resources. The other half shall be given to a student majoring in either Geology or Earth Science (including Earth Science Adolescence Education). This will be awarded for one year only.
Dr. P. Jay Fleisher Scholarship -
This Scholarship is created to recognize and honor Dr. P. Jay Fleisher, Distinguished Teaching Professor, who throughout his 40-year teaching career in the Earth Sciences Department at the SUNY College at Oneonta, instilled the value for high academic standards and the life-long benefits of diligent scholarly pursuit. Dr. Fleisher successfully mentored Geology and Water Resources students to their fullest capacity. It is established by gifts of alumni in 2010, who credit Dr. Fleisher with providing life-changing experiences during formal field trips and field-oriented research. This Scholarship is intended to engage and motivated full-time students who pursue a major in Geology or Water Resources. The award will provide support for students who, under the guidance of a faculty mentor, engage in field-oriented studies and/or research. The goal of this Scholarship is to foster significant involvement of the student with the subject and with the faculty. This can be renewed annually.
Steve Kluge Earth Science Scholarship - This Scholarship was established in honor of Steve Kluge, an extraordinary teacher and friend of SUNY Oneonta, from the gifts of colleagues and friends, founded in 2007. This award will be given to an entering student who graduated from Fox Lane High School, who intends to pursue a course of study in one of the Earth Sciences (Geology, Water Resources, Earth Science, Adolescent Education Earth Science, Meteorology) and who can demonstrate financial need. This award is renewable, and available to entering freshmen or transfers.
QTZ Scholarship - Terry Quinn ’82, Eric Tappa ’81 and James Zachos ’82 established this Scholarship to help preserve the academic setting they fondly recall from their undergraduate days here at the College. Through their continuing and generous support, and that of others who share their sentiment, this scholarship will recruit and retain students with outstanding performance in Earth Science disciplines. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who are studying Geology, Water Resources or Earth Sciences are eligible for this award.

Peter W. Knightes '67 Scholarship
- Peter W. Knightes, Class of 1967, founded and has been funding this Scholarship since its inception in 1999. This award will be given to students who are majoring in Earth Science Adolescent Education with the intention of teaching Earth Science in Grades 7 to 12 in the public schools of New York State. This award is renewable providing the students continue with this curriculum.

John J. Doherty '87 Scholarship - This Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who is an Economics and Business major, demonstrating financial need and has proven community or college service involvement. This award will give preference to students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, but is not a requirement. John Doherty of Massapequa Park, NY founded and has been funding this scholarship since 2007.

Steven Edelstein '79 Scholarship in Honor of Dr. Foster Brown -
This Scholarship was created from the gifts of Steven Edelstein ’79, established in honor of Dr. Foster Brown who had a distinguished career as a member of the faculty in the Department of Psychology. This merit based award will be given to sophomores or juniors of high academic achievement, who have declared a major in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics of Psychology and who plan on pursuing a course of study involving applied quantitative methods and/or experimental research design. This scholarship is renewable annually providing the students continue their course of studies in one of the above stated curriculums.
Carol L. Mandzik Excellence for Women in Business Scholarship- This annual scholarship was created in 2011 from the gifts of Carol L. Mandzik, Director of International Education at SUNY Oneonta. This award will be made to a full time female undergraduate student who is majoring in Economics or Business Economics, including those with concentrations, who is a U.S. citizen and a resident of NY state, and who demonstrates academic achievement with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (or its high school equivalent for the initial award.) Preference will be given to students who have financial need and who demonstrate leadership and/or campus or community involvement. This scholarship may be renewed annually.
Dr. Ignatius J. H. Ts'ao Scholarship - This scholarship was created from the gifts of Mrs. Grace W. Ts’ao, family and friends in memory of Dr. Ts’ao, who was a professor in the Political Science Department here at the College from 1966 o 1995. This award will be given to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who are Economics and Business majors and who have a minimum 3.3 GPA. Providing students continue to meet the GPA requirement, this scholarship is renewable.

Helen Baldo '53 Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created from the gifts of family, friends and colleagues in 2001 in memory of Helen J. Baldo, Oneonta alum, professor and Acting Assistant to the President all from 1969-1993. This award will be given to students who are Elementary Education majors or students who have illustrated significant service to the College and who demonstrate a need for financial aid. This award may be renewed annually.
James and Laura Bidwell Scholarship - This Scholarship was created through the gifts of James R. Bidwell, Class of 1983 and Laura A. Bidwell. This award will be made to a student with a major in Science, Math or Education, with preference given to candidates with a dual major in two of the three. The award will be contingent upon demonstrated academic achievement, as evidenced by the awardees maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and at the discretion of the designate indicated above.
Nancy J. Binnie '77 Scholarship - This Scholarship was established in 2007 with the gifts from the estate of Nancy J. Binnie ’77. Preferences for recipients of this scholarship are as follows; transfer student from a community college, major in Elementary Education, demonstrate need for financial aid and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

This award will be given to students majoring in Elementary Education and who have financial need. Milon J. and Helen Ormiston Bundy '31 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2001 in memory of Milon J. and Helen Ormiston Bundy ’31 from the gifts of Keith Bundy ’62, Bruce Bundy ’58 and Joanne Bundy ’58. This award will be given to a student who is a junior or senior Elementary Education major with financial need and who demonstrates academic achievement with a GPA of at least 3.3. John M. and Carol A. Burkhart ’68 Scholarship -
This endowed Scholarship was created in 2009 through the gifts of John M. and Carol A. Burkhart, who are both graduates of SUNY Oneonta, Class of 1968. John and Carol are endowing this Scholarship for students majoring in Science Education (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science of Physics) as a part of Visions <-> Solutions: The Fund for Science and Technology. Students must also demonstrate a need for financial aid. This award is renewable providing students maintain a GPA of at least 2.8.
Class of 1952 Scholarship - This Scholarship was established from the gifts from members and family and friends of members of the Class of 1952. This is the Class of 1952’s fiftieth anniversary reunion gift to the College. Preference for this award will be given to Education majors who have demonstrated academic achievement. This award is renewable providing students maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
Class of 1960 Scholarship - This Scholarship was established in 2000 from the gifts of alumni from the Class of 1960 to memorialize the deceased members of this class. This award will be given to students who are Elementary Education or Secondary Education majors. This award is renewable providing the student stays in this curriculum.
Class of 1961 Scholarship - This Scholarship was established in 2001 from the gifts of the alumni of the Class of 1961, to benefit Education majors.
E. Richard '52 and Angela M. Covert Scholarship - This Scholarship was established in 2003 from the gifts of Dr. E. Richard Covert and Dr. Angela M. Covert. This award will be given to male students who are Elementary Education majors and who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need. Anne Hopkins Cross '52 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created from the gifts of L. Wallace Cross in honor of Anne Hopkins Cross, Class of 1952. Julia Thompson Elting Scholarship - This Scholarship was created from the gifts of James and Karen Elting and William Elting in memory of Julia Thompson Elting in 1997. This award will be given to undergraduate non-traditional age students or any Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who are Education majors, especially individuals planning for teaching careers serving students with disabilities. Students must demonstrate academic achievement with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. This award is renewable providing the student continues to meet the above criteria.
Vincent F. Foti '57, '60G Scholarship - This Scholarship was established by Vince Foti, Jr., in honor of his father’s retirement in 1993. Dr. Vince F. Foti had a long career with the College, holding positions as Associate Dean of Students, Associate Dean for Academic Administration, Acting Dean of Professional Studies, Associate Dean for Academic Administration and Advisement, Director of Advisement, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and lastly Dean of Behavioral and Applied Science. This award will be given to a Junior or Senior Elementary or Secondary Education major. Students must demonstrate academic excellence with a GPA of at least 3.0, and demonstrate financial need. Angelo and Emily Franco Scholarship - This Scholarship was established by Kathryn in 2006 in memory of her parents Angelo and Emily Franco, and in honor of the value and importance they placed on education. This award will be given to students who are Education majors, who demonstrate financial need and who are “average” students with a strong work ethic. This award is meant to recognize the potential of “average” students planning to become teachers who may not have the highest academic standing but who work hard and have financial need. This award is renewable providing the student continues to meet the above stated criteria.
Alice Hull George '31 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created from the gifts of Alice Hull George’s family in her memory in 1996. Mrs. George was member of the Classes of 1931 and 1971. This award will be given to Education majors, with preference given to Elementary Education majors. Students must also demonstrate financial need, be of Junior or Senior status, and from Delaware, Otsego, Chenango or Cortland County.
Gertraut S. Schilling Golden '60 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2006 from the gifts of David M. Golden, Class of 1960, in memory of Getraut S. Schilling Golden, also Class of 1960. This award will be given to students who are majoring in Secondary Education or Foreign Languages and who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance. Preference for this award will be given to Freshmen who are Elementary Education majors and graduates of Scotia-Glennville High School. If in any year qualified Freshmen are not identified, then second preference will be for Sophomore or Junior Elementary Education majors (including transfers) who are Scotia-Glennville High School graduates. Paul O. Meadows Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2001 from the gifts of the Meadows family and friends to honor Paul O. Meadows, a faculty member in the Foreign Language Department at the College from 1957 to 1990. Mr. Meadows served as Coordinator of the Foreign Language Department from 1957-1969, and Chair from 1969-1975. This award will be given to students who are Secondary Education majors with a preference to those preparing to teach foreign languages, or to Foreign Language majors. This award is renewable.
Elizabeth Townsend Millard '40 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2008 from the gifts of William Millard in memory of his wife, Elizabeth Townsend Millard, Class of 1940. This award will be given to students majoring in Elementary Education and who demonstrate financial need. This award is renewable.
Mildred H. Parish '51 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2004 from the gifts of Mildred H. Parish, Class of 1951. This award will be given to students who are Education majors, who demonstrate academic achievement, and who are from upstate New York (defined as north and west of Orange and Putnam counties and excluding these two counties.) This award is renewable, providing students maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
Dorothy Amsden Payton '37 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2001 by an anonymous donor in memory of Dorothy Amsden Payton, Class of 1937 and an Elementary School teacher in Leonardsville, New Berlin and Morris school systems. Mrs. Payton was a graduate of the New Berlin Central School and then received her teaching certificate from the Oneonta Normal School and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College. She was an educator and had taught at Leonardsville Central School, New Berlin Central School and Morris Central School. This award will be given to students who are Elementary Education majors with financial need, with preference given to students from New Berlin, Leonardsville or Morris school districts or school districts encompassing those townships. Recipients of Clark Foundation Scholarships will not be eligible to receive this scholarship. This award is renewable annually, providing the award guidelines continue to be met.
Carl and Inge Otten Roemer '59 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2004 from the gifts of Inge Otten Roemer, Class of 1959, and her husband, Carl Roemer. This award will be given to students who are Education majors and who have financial need. Preference for this award goes to students of Mt. Upton-Gilbertsville Central School and Unatego High School. If this initial preference is not met, then preference will go to a student from Otsego or Chenango Counties. This award is renewable.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
EOP Alumni Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created in 2002 from the gifts of Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) alumni, College at Oneonta alumni and friends. To be eligible to receive this award a student must meet the following criteria: current enrollment in EOP at the College with the intent to earn a SUNY Oneonta Bachelor’s degree; Junior or Senior status, having completed a minimum of 56 credits; residency minimum of 45 credits and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.85. Students must be nominated by EOP professional staff in writing to the EOP Director. Nominees must submit an essay of no more than three pages addressing the additional factors identified below along with a letter of recommendation from a College faculty member. One junior and/or one senior will be selected. Students must participate in the College’s community, participate in EOP services and activities, volunteer and demonstrate how he/she has overcome adversity. This award may be renewed annually, however, a nomination is required every year.
Hugh and Julie O'Toole '87 Scholarship in Memory of Erin O'Toole -
This scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of Hugh and Julie O'Toole, Class of 1987. The Scholarship is in memory of Erin O'Toole. She lived her life to the fullest for all twelve years she was on this earth. She was smart, caring and shared her talents with everyone around her. Mr. and Mrs. O'Toole hope this award allows those striving to succeed to reach their potential with Erin's style. This award will be given to economically disadvantaged students whose family income does not exceed EOP income guidelines by more than 25%. John G. New Scholarship - This Scholarship was founded in memory of Dr. John G. New in 1997 and funded by gifts from alumni, friends and family. This award is renewable.
Craig Richard Sturdevant Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2007 in memory of Craig Richard Sturdevant, Class of 1988. Craig’s life-long love of the Earth and nature, nourished by the caring and concerned faculty at the College, led him to a fruitful career as a teacher of Earth Sciences. Craig passed away prematurely in 1996 after a bout with cancer, and he is remembered to this day as a unique and exemplary individual by his professors at the College. This scholarship honors Craig’s memory and is intended to foster the same passion for learning and experiencing the beauty and science of the Earth in other students attending the College who are majoring in the Environmental Sciences. - This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of David and Caroline Schroeder D’Antonio, Class of 1967. The intent of the donor is that the recipient be a passing student but not at the top of the class academically with many other scholarships available. This award is renewable.

Werner A. Haus Memorial Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 1998 from the estate of Werner Anthony “Red” Haus, Class of 1969. This award will be given to students from Otsego or Delaware County. This award is renewable, providing students maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
Jane M. Hazzard '56 Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created in 2006 from the gifts of Jane Monser Hazzard, Class of 1956. First preference for this award will be given to full-time students who demonstrate a need for financial aid and who are Non-Traditional Age Students. If there are not any qualified Non-Traditional Age Students, this may then be awarded to a traditional age student who demonstrates financial need. This award is renewable.

Lillian and Arthur Meves Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of Victoria Andritz, Class of 1965, in memory of her parents, Lillian and Arthur Meves. This award will be given to students with financial need. This award may be renewed annually.

Robert W. and Joan F. Moyer Scholarship - This Scholarhsip was created in 2006 from the gifts of Robert W. and Joan F. Moyer. William Pietraface and Marjorie Miller Pietraface Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2000 from the gifts of Dr. William Pietraface, Professor of Biology, and Mrs. Marjorie Miller Pietraface. Professor Frederick A. Puritz Scholarship

This award will be given to students who demonstrate a need for financial assistance and who demonstrate academic achievement by maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0. This award may be renewed annually.
James and Joyce Broe Family Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2008 from the gifts of James and Joyce Broe and their family members. This award will be given to undergraduate student who demonstrate a high need for financial aid and who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. In addition, preference for this award will be given to students who are residents of Otsego County. This award may be renewed annually.
Julia and Thomas Denniston '75 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2006 from the gifts of Julia Denniston and Thomas Denniston, Class of 1975. College at Oneonta Foundation Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 1994 from the gifts of alumni, friends and members of the College at Oneonta Foundation board. This award is given to Freshmen who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement. This is renewable annually providing students continue to maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
Jack and Rose Hachadoorian Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2002 from the gifts of Rosalind M. Hewsenian, Class of 1975, in honor of Jack and Rose Hachadoorian, grandfather and grandmother of Ms. Hewsenian. This award will be given to students who are in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and who demonstrate a need for financial aid. Preference is given to students of Armenian descent, and this award is meant to be a full tuition award. This is renewable annually.
Erling M. Hunt Memorial Scholarship
- This scholarship was created from the gifts of friends and family of Dr. Erling M. Hunt. This award will be given to students who demonstrate academic ability and financial need. This Scholarship has been created to memorialize Dr. Hunt, a distinguished Professor of History at the College at Oneonta, at Teachers College and in the Department of History at Columbia University. This award is renewable, providing the student maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
Beatrice Leach '30 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2001 from the gifts of Beatrice V.W. Leach, Class of 1930. This award will be given to students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. This is a renewable award.
Joan Melzer Lydon '71 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of Robert and Kathleen Melzer Lunger Class of 1973 in memory of Mrs. Lunger’s sister, Joan Melzer Lydon, Class of 1971. This award will be given to students who are U.S. Citizens who demonstrate academic achievement and have financial need. This award is renewable annually.
Alice '30 and Haverly Moyer Scholarship - This Scholarship was endowed in 1997, for Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors or Transfers who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. This award is renewable providing awardees maintain a minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA.
Farrukh Quraishi '76 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2005 from the gifts of Mr. Farrukh Quraishi, Class of 1976 and Ms. Lisa Brock. Geography
Dr. Martha L. Corry Scholarship
- Family members and friends of Dr. Martha L. Corry have established an endowed geography scholarship program in 1999 in recognition of her life-long interest and educational endeavors related to the field of geography. In 1964, Dr. Corry established the geography liberal arts program at SUNY Oneonta. When the program, under her leadership, was elevated to the status of an academic department, she became the first department chair. She remained chair until her retirement in 1985 when she was given the rank of emeritus professor. Students who are awarded a scholarship under this program will retain the scholarship during their stay at Oneonta as long as they maintain a strong academic record and continue to major in geography.
Arnold S. Harris '69 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created from a bequest of Jayne Regan Harris in memory of her husband, Arnold S. Harris, Class of 1969. This award will be given to students majoring in Geography with a concentration in Urban Planning, or to students majoring in Political Science.

Geology
Excellence in Water Resources,
Geology, and Earth Science Scholarship - Created from the gifts of Margaret V. Palmer and Dr. Arthur N. Palmer, Professor Emeritus, this Scholarship was founded in 2007 as an incentive for students to continue their academic excellence in the fields of Water Resources, Geology and Earth Science. The award will be given to Sophomores or Juniors who have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8. One-half of the award amount shall be given to a student majoring in Water Resources. The other half shall be given to a student majoring in either Geology or Earth Science (including Earth Science Adolescence Education). This will be awarded for one year only.
Dr. P. Jay Fleisher Scholarship -
Dr. Fleisher successfully mentored Geology and Water Resources students to their fullest capacity. It is established by gifts of alumni in 2010, who credit Dr. Fleisher with providing life-changing experiences during formal field trips and field-oriented research. This Scholarship is intended to engage and motivated full-time students who pursue a major in Geology or Water Resources. The award will provide support for students who, under the guidance of a faculty mentor, engage in field-oriented studies and/or research. The goal of this Scholarship is to foster significant involvement of the student with the subject and with the faculty. This can be renewed annually.
Steve Kluge Earth Science Scholarship - This Scholarship was established in honor of Steve Kluge, an extraordinary teacher and friend of SUNY Oneonta, from the gifts of colleagues and friends, founded in 2007. This award will be given to an entering student who graduated from Fox Lane High School, who intends to pursue a course of study in one of the Earth Sciences (Geology, Water Resources, Earth Science, Adolescent Education Earth Science, Meteorology) and who can demonstrate financial need. This award is renewable, and available to entering freshmen or transfers.
QTZ Scholarship - Terry Quinn ’82, Eric Tappa ’81 and James Zachos ’82 established this Scholarship to help preserve the academic setting they fondly recall from their undergraduate days here at the College. Through their continuing and generous support, and that of others who share their sentiment, this scholarship will recruit and retain students with outstanding performance in Earth Science disciplines. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who are studying Geology, Water Resources or Earth Sciences are eligible for this award.

Human Ecology
John and Joan Brooks Scholarship for Food Service and Restaurant
Administration - This Scholarship was created in 2002 from the gifts of John and Joan Brooks, owners of Brook’s House of Bar-B-Q Restaurant. This award will be given to students who are majors in the Food Service and Restaurant Administration program in the Human Ecology Department. These students must demonstrate a need for financial aid and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. First preference will be given to students who have graduated from or transfer from SUNY Delhi and whose home residence is in Otsego, Delaware, Schoharie or Chenango Counties. Second preference will be given to students who graduated from or transferred from SUNY Delhi and reside in Broome, Schenectady, Albany or Herkimer counties. This award is renewable annually.
Sextila Dunker Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 1975 by the New York State Federation of Home Bureaus for Home Economics Scholarships. Sophomore, Junior or Senior Human Ecology majors may apply for this award. Although it is not renewable, students may reapply to receive this award in future academic years.
Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Food Service and Restaurant
Administration - This Scholarship was created in 2007 through gifts and grants received in recognition of and as investments in the career preparation of College at Oneonta students who will become hospitality professionals. The first gift for this Scholarship was from Sodexho. This award will be made to current or incoming students who major in Food Service and Restaurant Administration. These students must exhibit commitment to the academic program and initiative to excel in their preparation to become hospitality professionals. This scholarship is not renewable, and funds are available to the student for one year only. The awardee(s) must have a GPA of 2.8 or higher in the case of a current student or incoming transfer student, or an 88% or higher high school average in the case of an incoming freshman student.
Human Ecology Department Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2002 from the gifts of Human Ecology faculty, staff and friends. Sophomore and Junior Human Ecology Department majors are eligible for this award, to be received during the student’s Junior or Senior year. The awardee must be in good academic standing, maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, be active in at least one professional student organization within the Human Ecology Department, preferably in a leadership role and have a minimum of two remaining semesters on the College campus. This award is renewable.
Oneida County Extension Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 1987 by the Oneida County Home Bureau for Home Economics Scholarships. Junior or Senior Human Ecology majors may apply for this award. Although it is not renewable, students may reapply to receive this award for future academic years.
Joe Poon '78 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2003 from the gifts of Joseph K. “Joe” Poon, Class of 1978, and donors who have made gifts in honor of Joe Poon. This award will be given to Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors who major in Dietetics or Food Service and Restaurant Administration in the Human Ecology Department. These students must demonstrate a need for financial aid and maintain a 2.75 GPA or higher. Special consideration will be given to students who participate in off-campus food service internships for academic credit. This award may be renewed annually.
Katherine Tobey Scholarship - This Scholarship benefits Sophomore, Junior and Senior Human Ecology majors. It is annually renewable award.
Frances K. Todd Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 1987 by the New York State Federation of Home Bureaus for Home Economics Scholarships. - This Scholarship was created in 2000 from the gift of the Catskill Whole Language Council to honor Dr. Chalmers Means, Reading Professor at the College from 1969-1991. Master of Science in Reading Graduate students who are currently employed as classroom teachers and who are in the reading graduate program at the College are eligible for this award. This award is renewable annually.

Alphonse Belmont '61 Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2001 from the gifts of Alphonse Belmont, Class of 1961. This award will be given to students matriculated in the Master of Science in Education/School Counselor Program, or who are enrolled in the Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling or its equivalent. It is Mr. Belmont’s intent this scholarship benefit students planning a career in guidance counseling. This award is renewable annually, providing the recipient continues to meet the above guidelines.

Board of Directors Scholarship for Support of Science and Technology - This Scholarship was created in 2010 through the gifts of Directors and Honorary Directors serving on the College at Oneonta Foundation Board of Directors in support of Visions <-> Solutions: The Fund for Science and Technology. This award will be made to either full time or part time undergraduate students who are majoring in any of the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) at SUNY Oneonta, contingent upon the awardee(s) maintaining a GPA of 2.8 or higher.
James and Laura Bidwell Scholarship - This Scholarship was created through the gifts of James R. Bidwell, Class of 1983 and Laura A. Bidwell. This award will be made to a student with a major in Science, Math or Education, with preference given to candidates with a dual major in two of the three. The award will be contingent upon demonstrated academic achievement, as evidenced by the awardees maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and at the discretion of the designate indicated above.
Steven Edelstein '79 Scholarship in Honor of Dr. Foster Brown -
This Scholarship was created from the gifts of Steven Edelstein ’79, established in honor of Dr. Foster Brown who had a distinguished career as a member of the faculty in the Department of Psychology. This merit based award will be given to sophomores or juniors of high academic achievement, who have declared a major in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics of Psychology and who plan on pursuing a course of study involving applied quantitative methods and/or experimental research design. This scholarship is renewable annually providing the students continue their course of studies in one of the above stated curriculums.
Dr. James A. Fraley Memorial Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 1995 in memory of Statistics Professor James A. Fraley. Undergraduate students (except graduating Seniors) who major in statistics are eligible for this award. This award will be based on financial need and academic achievement. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.66 in statistics courses (the SAT Math or another equivalent score may be substituted for Freshmen students,) contributions to the Statistics program at the College such as participation in undergraduate research, providing tutorial services and involvement in independent study, all in the field of Statistics.
William L. Ryder - John J. Michalak Computer Science Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created in 2003 from the gifts of James and Kathryn Ryder. Sophomore and Junior declared Computer Science majors are eligible for this award, who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and minimum Computer Science GPA of 3.0. This shall be granted without regard to financial need. Preference will be given to students who contribute to the Computer Science program such as participation in undergraduate research, providing tutorial services, involvement in independent study, assistance in laboratories or any other contribution within the Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics Department or the College while attending SUNY Oneonta.

- This Scholarship was created in 2002 from the gifts of Kevin G. Kraft, Class of 1988, in honor of Mrs. Agnes C. Gerard, grandmother of Mr. Kraft. This award will be given to students who are veterans of any branch of the United States Military, with preference to the U.S. Marine Corps, and who demonstrate financial need. This award is renewable annually.
Robin Ross Higgins '72 Scholarship -
This Scholarship was created in 2002 from the gifts of Robin Ross Higgins, Class of 1972. This award will be given to a student who is the child or dependent of a parent on active duty in the military, a child or dependent with a parent who has been killed in a terrorist act, or a current SUNY College at Oneonta student enrolled in the U.S. Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course (PLC). Students who are veterans of any branch of the United States Military, Reservists in any branch of the Military or child or spouse of a 100% disabled Veteran also qualify for this award. If none of these conditions can be met, then preference will be given to a student who is demonstrating leadership in such ways as serving as 1) an officer of a recognized student organization; 2) an orientation team leader; 3) a resident advisor; or 4) a mentor in a formal mentorship program. The student shall also demonstrate a need for financial aid and illustrate academic achievement.

Charles C. Burnsworth Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of members of the Women’s Glee Club at the College at Oneonta, along with friends and family, to honor Charles C. Burnsworth, Professor Emeritus, Music. This Scholarship has been established to recognize Dr. Burnsworth’s 45 years of service to the College at Oneonta and to the community, and his dedication to the pursuit of excellence personified by the Women’s Glee Club which was in existence from 1957-1972. This award will be given to students who demonstrate interest in the pursuit of excellence in musical performance and/or community service, with a preference to musical performance as demonstrated through participation in such activities as NYSSMA, all-county and all-state performances. Preference will be given to students with financial need.
Hewitt Pantaleoni Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 1995 from the gifts of Patricia Pantaleoni and her family, friends and alumni in memory of Professor Hewitt Pantaleoni, who taught at the College from 1960-1988. This award is to honor his time at the College, his students and colleagues he worked with, and to help to continue in others the joy he found in music. This Scholarship will be awarded to Music or Music Industry majors, who demonstrate an excellence in music and demonstrate financial need. This award is renewable yearly, providing the awardees maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Elin Jorgensen Stene Scholarship - This Scholarship was created from the bequest of Elin Jorgensen Stene, a member of the faculty in the Music Department in the 1930s-40s. This award will be given to Music or Music Industry Freshmen. Students must demonstrate above average performance skill as demonstrated by audition, past record of performance accomplishment in NYSSMA or other high school/college performance venues, and have actively participated in a music ensemble each semester. Pianists may substitute accompanying for ensemble. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 (Music Industry majors do not need to demonstrate above average performance skill or activity within a music ensemble.) This award is annually renewable.
Edith Wilk Scholarship - This Scholarship was created from the gifts of Edith Wilk. This award benefits Music and Music Industry majors, and is renewable annually.

- This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the $40,000.00 gift made by Oneonta Auxiliary Services in honor of OAS Executive Director Thomas Ryder on the occasion of his retirement. Ashok Malhotra Seva (Compassionate Service) Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2006 from a gift from Dr. Ashok Kumar Malhotra, Professor of Philosophy and SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor. First preference for this award will be given to students who are Juniors or Seniors who demonstrate a record of community service and continue to be involved in community service and volunteerism, who major or minor in Philosophy and who have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher. If there are no Philosophy majors or minors who meet these criteria, then the Scholarship may be awarded to students majoring in any of the academic programs offered by the College at Oneonta. This award may be renewed annually, however, the maximum number of years a student may receive this award is two years.

This endowed Scholarship was created in 2009 through the gifts of John M. and Carol A. Burkhart, who are both graduates of SUNY Oneonta, Class of 1968. John and Carol are endowing this Scholarship for students majoring in Science Education (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science of Physics) as a part of Visions <-> Solutions: The Fund for Science and Technology. Students must also demonstrate a need for financial aid. This award is renewable providing students maintain a GPA of at least 2.8.
Dr. and Mrs. John and Mary Constantine Scholarship
- This Scholarship is awarded to students who are intended majors of the following science fields: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Science Education or Pre-Professional Studies for Medical, Dental or Osteopathic Schools. Selected students must also demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. This Scholarship may be awarded for the remainder of the student’s time, up to a total of four years at the College, providing the student maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3, demonstrates financial need and continued academic commitment to the Science, Science Education or Pre-Professional Studies. This Scholarship was founded in 1998 by the sons of Dr. and Mrs. John Constantine in their memory.
Michael '87 and Deborah '87 Curcio Scholarship - This Scholarship is awarded to students who are majoring in one of the following fields: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Earth Science, Physics or Astronomy. Additionally, students may receive this scholarship who are “average” and may not qualify for other types of scholarships based on perceived lack of financial need or academic performance below a specific level. Charles T. P. Wang Memorial Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 1993 from the gifts of family, friends and colleagues in memory of Dr. Charles T.P. Wang, Professor of Physics at the College from 1967-1993. Students with majors in Physics Option A, Physics Option B or Secondary Physics Education are eligible for this award. A Sophomore will be chosen who has taken three General Physics courses at the College. This award will be based on academic achievement, GPA in Physics courses, cumulative College GPA and service to the department through undergraduate research, providing tutoring services, etcetera.

John M. and Carol A. Burkhart ’68 Scholarship -
This endowed Scholarship was created in 2009 through the gifts of John M. and Carol A. Burkhart, who are both graduates of SUNY Oneonta, Class of 1968. John and Carol are endowing this Scholarship for students majoring in Science Education (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science of Physics) as a part of Visions <-> Solutions: The Fund for Science and Technology. Students must also demonstrate a need for financial aid. This award is renewable providing students maintain a GPA of at least 2.8.

David Brenner '57, '59G Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 1998 from the gifts of Dr. and Mrs. David W. Brenner. Dr. Brenner had a distinguished career in public service that spanned 36 years. This award will be given to undergraduate students who are Political Science majors preparing for a career in public service. This award is renewable annually.
Arnold S. Harris '69 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created from a bequest of Jayne Regan Harris in memory of her husband, Arnold S. Harris, Class of 1969. This award will be given to students majoring in Geography with a concentration in Urban Planning, or to students majoring in Political Science.
Eric James Mathiasen '86 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2006 from the gifts of Andrew Baum, Class of 1987, Caryn Goodman Baum, Class of 1988, family and friends of Eric J. Mathasien and the Class of 1986, in memory of Mr. Mathasien. This award will be given to Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors who demonstrate a need for financial aid, who are Political Science majors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who perform at least 15 hours of community service per year. This award is renewable annually.

- This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the Psychology Department. This award will be given to undergraduate Psychology students, and is renewable annually.
Steven Edelstein '79 Scholarship in Honor of Dr. Foster Brown -
This Scholarship was created from the gifts of Steven Edelstein ’79, established in honor of Dr. Foster Brown who had a distinguished career as a member of the faculty in the Department of Psychology. This merit based award will be given to sophomores or juniors of high academic achievement, who have declared a major in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics of Psychology and who plan on pursuing a course of study involving applied quantitative methods and/or experimental research design. This scholarship is renewable annually providing the students continue their course of studies in one of the above stated curriculums.
Dr. John C. Scott '77 Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of Dr. John Scott, Class of 1977. This award will be given to students who intend to pursue a major in the field of Psychology and who demonstrate financial need. This award is renewable annually.

James and Laura Bidwell Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created through the gifts of James R. Bidwell, Class of 1983 and Laura A. Bidwell. This award will be made to a student with a major in Science, Math or Education, with preference given to candidates with a dual major in two of the three. The award will be contingent upon demonstrated academic achievement, as evidenced by the awardees maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and at the discretion of the designate indicated above.
Arshavir Hewsenian and Kamandjian Families Scholarship - This Scholarship was created through the gifts of Rosalind Hewsenian, Class of 1975 in support of Visions <-> Solutions: The Fund for Science and Technology. This award will be made to a female student with a major in Math or the Sciences. The award may be renewed annually contingent upon the guidelines continuing to be met.

Dr. and Mrs. John and Mary Constantine Scholarship
- This Scholarship is awarded to students who are intended majors of the following science fields: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Science Education or Pre-Professional Studies for Medical, Dental or Osteopathic Schools. Selected students must also demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. This Scholarship may be awarded for the remainder of the student’s time, up to a total of four years at the College, providing the student maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3, demonstrates financial need and continued academic commitment to the Science, Science Education or Pre-Professional Studies. This Scholarship was founded in 1998 by the sons of Dr. and Mrs. John Constantine in their memory.
Gwen Latendorf Schuster '68,
'73G and Rudolph Schuster, DVM Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of Gwen Latendorf Schuster, ’68, ‘73G and her husband, Rudy. This award will be given to students who are Science Education or Family and Consumer Science Education majors. It is the goal of the donors that this scholarship be used to recruit and retain stop students in these fields. This award may be renewed annually providing the recipients still be pursuing one of these two fields.

Board of Directors Scholarship for Support of Science and Technology - This Scholarship was created in 2010 through the gifts of Directors and Honorary Directors serving on the College at Oneonta Foundation Board of Directors in support of Visions <-> Solutions: The Fund for Science and Technology. This award will be made to either full time or part time undergraduate students who are majoring in any of the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) at SUNY Oneonta, contingent upon the awardee(s) maintaining a GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Roger Arthur Frost Scholarship - This Scholarship was created in 2007 from a gift from Dr. James Frost in honor of Roger Arthur Frost, son of Dr. James Frost and the late Elise Lorenz Frost. Dr. James Frost, Professor and Dean of the College (Vice President for Academic Affairs) from 1964-1974. This award will be given to students majoring in the Sciences or Technology in support of the College’s Fund for Excellence and Science Technology Fund campaign. It may be used to recruit Freshmen students; however, it is intended that the entire award amount go to one student. This award is renewable annually.
Barbara K. Grigoleit "Strawberry Dreams" Scholarship for Excellence in
Math and Science - This Scholarship was created in 2007 from the gifts of Deb Ballentine in loving memory of Barbara K. Grigoleit. This award will be made to Math or Science Majors and is renewable annually contingent upon the awardee(s) maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Janet Perna '70 Women in Technology Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2006 from the gifts of Janet Perna, Class of 1970. This award will be given to entering freshman women students who pursue a major in at least one or more of the following fields of Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics, Physics or the Secondary Education Program in one of these fields. - This Scholarship was created in 1998 in recognition of Frances Waddington, outstanding long-time College Foundation Board member and community leader, and her husband George, Professor of Social Science Education. This award will go to an undergraduate Social Science major who has an interest in international affairs and is renewable annually providing the recipients maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Rose Metz LaPotin Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 2008 by Armand LaPotin, Professor Emeritus of History and former member of the College at Oneonta Foundation and Barbara Joan LaPotin. This award will be given to students who have financial need, are in good academic standing and majoring in Child and Family Studies or Pre-professional Sociology. It is the goal of this donor to assist students with financial need who are preparing for a career in social work. This award may be renewed annually.

Muriel and Kenneth Kellerhouse '57, '60G Scholarship
- This Scholarship was created in 1999 from the gifts of Dr. Kenneth Kellerhouse, a retired Profess of Education, in his name and in memory of his wife Muriel, a Professor of Theater. Both Dr. Kenneth and Dr. Muriel Kellerhouse were on the College at Oneonta faculty for three decades. This award will be given to students who are Theater majors in good academic standing, with preference given to incoming freshmen and transfer students. This award is renewable annually.

Water Resources
Excellence in Water Resources,
Geology, and Earth Science Scholarship - Created from the gifts of Margaret V. Palmer and Dr. Arthur N. Palmer, Professor Emeritus, this Scholarship was founded in 2007 as an incentive for students to continue their academic excellence in the fields of Water Resources, Geology and Earth Science. The award will be given to Sophomores or Juniors who have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8. One-half of the award amount shall be given to a student majoring in Water Resources. The other half shall be given to a student majoring in either Geology or Earth Science (including Earth Science Adolescence Education). This will be awarded for one year only.
Steve Kluge Earth Science Scholarship - This Scholarship was established in 2000 in honor of Steve Kluge, an extraordinary teacher and friend of SUNY Oneonta, from the gifts of colleagues and friends, founded in 2007. This award will be given to an entering student who graduated from Fox Lane High School, who intends to pursue a course of study in one of the Earth Sciences (Geology, Water Resources, Earth Science, Adolescent Education Earth Science, Meteorology) and who can demonstrate financial need. This award is renewable, and available to entering freshmen or transfers.
QTZ Scholarship - Terry Quinn ’82, Eric Tappa ’81 and James Zachos ’82 established this Scholarship to help preserve the academic setting they fondly recall from their undergraduate days here at the College. Through their continuing and generous support, and that of others who share their sentiment, this scholarship will recruit and retain students with outstanding performance in Earth Science disciplines. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who are studying Geology, Water Resources or Earth Sciences are eligible for this award.
