The manager of the Office of Alumni Affairs is our secretary,
Ellen Shufelt ’84H. Ellen has worked in Alumni Affairs for over 30
years, and she was the first individual named an honorary alumna of the
College. Ellen serves as editorial assistant for Reflections and Recording
Secretary of the Alumni Association. She
is invaluable in the planning and implementation of special events and
keeps us all in forward motion. She is the cheery voice at the end of
the phone line and a calm and helpful presence in all situations. Ellen
has an incredible knack for putting people at ease.
Kathy Hewlett

Kathy Hewlett has served as our office assistant for ten years.
She is responsible for compiling and writing the ever-popular and
expanding “Class Notes” section of Reflections magazine. She
assists with event planning, updates alumni records, performs data entry
for gifts to the College, and helps manage our alumni website. She has exceptional organization skills and keeps
our resources and offices in fine order. She’s been given the title
“Sherlock” in recognition of her ability to find lost alumni, reconnect
classmates, and verify facts and figures. She is currently enrolled as a
part-time student at the College majoring in Communication Studies.
Donna Chase
chasedj@oneonta.edu
Donna Chase joined our staff in the fall of 2002, as a clerk in charge
of gift and data entry. Over the years, she has learned a great deal
about our database and integrating technology in all aspects of our work
and currently holds the title of Alumni Affairs Database Manager. A previous stint with the United States Postal Service enables her
to speak “postal,” so she has helped us to streamline our mailings and
increase our returns of changed addresses. She is a crucial member of
the Red Dragon Open Golf Tournament team, and she chaired a consortium
of database users from several SUNY colleges and continues to act as
alternate chair.
Ona Whaley
whaleyoe@oneonta.edu
Ona Whaley joined the College in August 2007 as the Coordinator of Young
Alumni programs. Her primary responsibilities include engaging alumni of
the last decade by planning events, developing publications, being the
primary contact for the Young Alumni Council and assisting in other
alumni programs and initiatives. She received her B.S. in Business
Management and Economics from SUNY Empire State. She was previously
employed by Fulton-Montgomery Community College as the Director of
Alumni Affairs and Foundation Projects before joining SUNY Oneonta.
Cindi Northrop
northrcj@oneonta.edu
Cindi joined our staff in November 2007 as a Clerk I. Previously she was
employed as a campus support specialist at the Norwich Campus of SUNY
College at Morrisville. Cindi has an associate’s degree in accounting
and is continuing coursework here on campus toward a bachelor’s degree.
As a member of our staff she enters gifts, updates the database and
assists in planning and execution of events throughout the year.
So now you have met the A-Team and you know at least five people who
will be waiting to meet you in Oneonta at Reunion Weekend. Don’t
hesitate any longer to return to the place where you “came of age.” Fond
memories and familiar faces are waiting to greet you!
