College Advancement (CA) is one of the four Divisions of SUNY College at Oneonta, and there are four units within CA: Development and Fundraising, the Office of Alumni Affairs, the Center for Economic & Community Development, and the Grants Development Office. The Division is also responsible for the management of two 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations (The College at Oneonta Foundation and The College at Oneonta Alumni Association) and several advisory groups.

Overall, CA develops relationships and secures resources that enable the College to achieve its vision and mission through implementation of its Strategic Plan. This done by engaging current and retired faculty and staff, alumni, students, corporations, foundations, government entities and friends of the College. Our largest single constituent group is our alumni (54,000 graduates).

Generally, in collaboration with faculty and other administrative units of the college, our major priorities include the following: Raising funds to support academic programs and facilities Creating endowed scholarships for economically disadvantaged students Promoting and supporting faculty and student research, scholarship and related activities Supporting the College‟s strategic plan

In the past ten years, over $23.7 million in private gifts and grants has been raised. The acquisition of these funds (e.g. the recent Fund for Science & Technology), as well as the procurement of research and related program grants through the Grants Development Office, have enhanced the academic enterprise of the College. In particular, CA has worked to provide funding for faculty and student research, faculty development, endowed and non-endowed lectureships, academic scholarships, and student and faculty monetary awards.

There are four offices that provide support to make this work possible:

Development and Fundraising
Office of Alumni Affairs
Center for Economic and Community Development
Office of Grants Development
