Alumni Association President's Message

I am honored to serve as the President of the College at Oneonta Alumni Association.  Like many of you, my years as an undergraduate and graduate student were great.  In the warm and protective Oneonta environment, I made life-long friends, learned from dedicated faculty, and met my husband, Alex.  But unlike many of you, I have remained in Oneonta and spent my entire career at the College. I started as a Residence Hall Director and then served as Assistant Dean of Students until 2000.  Today, I have the privilege of working for Oneonta Auxiliary Services (OAS) as Manager of Marketing and Communications. These experiences have given me a unique opportunity to observe and participate in the incredible strides and accomplishments of our alma mater over the past 20 years.

I can say with certainty that today our College is academically stronger, aesthetically more appealing, and culturally more enriched than ever before. This progress can be attributed to the entire College at Oneonta community–faculty, staff, administration, students, parents, friends, and alumni.  As alumni, we are 46,000 strong and the largest constituency of the College.   Our financial gifts to many projects have supported this renaissance.  Our investment in scholarships, campus beautification, faculty-student research, building renovations, and the Milne Library were wise and will continue to enrich and enhance our alma mater.

Through the Alumni Association, I hope to connect you or reconnect you to the campus.  Attend an event in your region, come back for Homecoming & Family Weekend, or offer your expertise to students through a classroom visit.  When you have finished reading this magazine, take the time to submit a class note and tell us what you are doing.  Register at the online community at www.oneontaalumni.com and keep in touch with classmates and friends.  We welcome your involvement and look forward to working with you as we connect the past and the future of our College.
