Summer 2004

1925

Margaret Onderdonk Damaschke celebrated her 100th birthday on April 4 with her son and daughter-in-law, John and Martha Griffin Hooks ’52, and residents and staff of the AO Fox Memorial Nursing Home.  Margaret is the oldest resident at Fox Nursing Home, where she has lived since 1995. 

1936

Louiean Bingham Covell resides in Sherburne.  She says nothing very exciting happens at age 95. 

1943

Elinor Massey Meyer looks forward to reading classnotes with each issue of Reflections.  Life has been good for Elinore and her husband, George.  They still have each other and are able to travel.  Their family is able to get together often.  Elinore says as long as she is able to function on a daily basis and play bridge, she’s very happy. 

1946

Carolyn Hansen Carlson Hinman has made some lifestyle changes since the passing of her husband last fall.  She keeps busy with seniors, church, and her family of 20 grandchildren. 

1949

Marcella Strothers Hinman resides in Brookville, FL.  Her husband passed away in June 2003 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.  Marcella’s health does not allow her to travel back to Oneonta for reunions as much as she would love to meet all of her friends again. 

1951

Sali Klein Kennedy resides in Reisterstown, MD.  Her husband, William Kennedy ’52, passed away on February 19 from Parkinson’s disease.   

1952

Jane Wayman Zogg has been traveling the country roads taking pictures of old dairy barns and then making them into oil paintings.  She had a show at the Cortland Free Library.  Jane has hopes of painting many more, especially of Oneonta, her hometown. 

1953

June Baumann VanBuren and her husband, Robert, reside in Schenectady.  They visited Dave and Marilyn Pattengill Lent after 50 years in Sarasota, FL. 

1956

Lorraine MacRae Gabler has enjoyed being in Florida for the past 26 years.  Her main interest is creative floral design with National Garden Clubs, Inc., and the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs.  As a master flower show judge, Lorraine is kept busy at shows in Central and South America as well as the United States.  When not traveling, Lorraine teaches classes and gives programs. Lorraine has six children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. 

1957

Diane Smith Thomsen and her husband, Frank, reside in Midwest City, OK.  They will celebrate 47 years of marriage in August.  They have nine grandchildren that keep them busy.    

1958

Donald Bassett retired from coaching after 46 years.  

Bonnie DuMond went to Antarctica in January.  She cruised the islands around the Antarctic and at one point was only 76 miles from the South Pole.  It was an excellent trip, and she highly recommends it. 

Robert Rosemier is serving his second year as an elected official on his county legislative board. 

1959

Nancy Felicito Alecci, Joy Sewell Irish, Carrie Mione Pennington, Deni Winfield Mack, Janet James Hollahan, Edie Kranz Vandell, and Carol (Holly) Hollenbeck Boyett celebrated their sixth Alpha Sig reunion on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico.  They would like to invite all other Alpha Sig members to join them next year on a cruise to Nova Scotia. 

Sonia Rossbach deFrances and her husband, Richard, celebrated their 15th anniversary with a trans-Atlantic cruise on the QEII.  Together they have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Richard operates an antiquarian book barn called Poor Richard’s.  Sonia enjoys her service on the College at Oneonta Foundation Board.  They both serve on the board of the Delaware County Historical Association. 

Cramer and Barbara Blessing Harrington split their time between Long Island and Jupiter, FL, and enjoy their visits from five children and 13 grandchildren.  Since retiring as superintendent of schools, Cramer remains active as a management consultant. 

William and Geraldine Green Moody will be moving to their home in Ocean Pines, MD, from Wilmington, DE, when William retires after teaching at the University of Delaware for 41 years.  Geraldine has retired from teaching first grade in the local school district. 

1960

Ellie Coote is retiring a second time after home-schooling her granddaughter through her third and fourth grade years.  Ellie says she is finding more time for everything except leisure; go figure! 

Charlotte Abbott Lichtenberg says 2004 is a great year.  She has become a businesswoman, Jewelry by Charlotte.  All her beading is done with natural stones.  She can be reached by email at Charl@KVVI.net.  She loves keeping in touch with family and friends.  Charlotte is looking forward to her 45th reunion. 

Patricia Tanner Ashton is retired from public school and is teaching at Sylvan Learning Center.  She enjoys traveling and antiquing. 

1962

James Bridger has retired after 30 years of teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology at Prince Georges Community College in Largo, MD.  James and his wife, Jan, plan to travel, garden, and play with their grandkids. 

Betty Collier Rummel, June Conklin Monroe, Sara Jane West Corwin, and Gerri Strang Marielle gathered at Gerri’s apartment in New York City to reminisce and catch up on each other’s lives.  It was the first meeting of all four friends since 1962. 

Barbara Pellegrino Shapley has spent four decades working in education as a teacher in New York and Florida, an adjunct professor at Florida State University, and most recently as a Newspapers in Education specialist with the Florida Department of Education.  Her retirement project is writing children’s stories.  She is the author of a syndicated children’s serial story, The Woodrow Tales, which appeared for 12 consecutive weeks in several newspapers across the nation, including Oneonta’s local paper, The Daily Star.  Barbara and her husband, Dick, have been married for 43 years.  She holds a master’s from Florida State University, and their three children are all graduates of Florida State. 

1963

Dorothy Florko Brodrick is the Staff Development Coordinator and Infection Control Nurse at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center in Eastmeadow, MA.  She enjoys her seven grandchildren, scrap-booking, and stamping. 

Bonnie Anderson Buechs retired from teaching to live on the coast of Maine seven years ago with her husband, Ken.  They have three grandsons and a granddaughter.  They enjoy viewing the wildlife there but find time to travel as well. 

Florence Altmann Janovsky attended the Alpha Delta Beta reunion in Virginia in June.  She is the Youth Program Director at Commack Vets Lanes on Long Island.  She is expecting her second grandchild in August. 

1964

Joyce Roberts Brown is the reference librarian at Northern Onondaga Public Library in Brewerton. 

David Connors is happy and busy after retirement from South Orangetown CSD.  He would appreciate information on his college friend, Phil Solomon '65

Kathy Cox Kaiser and her husband, Bob, have lived in Pennsylvania for the last 34 years.  Their three children and eight grandchildren live nearby.  Every day of retirement is fun! 

J. Edward Putnam recently retired after 33 years as an Episcopal priest.  He is working on a new career as a writer.  His first novel, Sandy Hill, is about to be published.  Edward’s wife, Doreen, is a SUNY-Cortland graduate, Class of 1964.  They have three children and two grandchildren and are loving life in Skaneateles. 

1965

Michael and Barbara Wezwick Caiazza would enjoy hearing from “old” friends.  They still live in Massachusetts but are far from retirement! 

Michele Beraducci Smith retired in 2002 after 35 years of teaching.  She is a tour escort for Prime Time Travel in Bellport and loves it! 

Ira Stolper retired from teaching in 1999. 

1966

Marion Dyckman Butts has been working part-time for the College supervising student teachers since her retirement in 2000.  Travel in Europe, the Caribbean, and the US has been a big part of her semi-retirement as well.  She is very proud of her first grandchild, Kyler, who turned one in February. 

1967

Kitty-jean Slifka Lakatos retired to the Adirondacks.  She has fond memories of the Oneonta Outdoor Club when she and Linda Smith paddled their canoes on Lake George. Now she lives just 30 minutes away in the mountains. 

Douglas Lathrop retired in 2000 after teaching secondary science for 32 years.  He started a second career as the pastor of the Wells United Methodist Church. 

Marilee Watermann Litwa has been a self-employed artist for the past six years.  Her studio/gallery is adjacent to her home.  Her work can be seen on her website at www.marileelitwa.com.  She would like to say hello to Judi, Lois, and Sharon. 

Linda Jones Stanco enjoyed a cruise on the Golden Princess with classmates JoAnn Zafarino Armistead, Ellen Siegel, and Meredith Gilmore Pletz. 

1968

Mary Ann Stratton Church and her husband, Richard, reside in Bethel, VT.  Their daughter, Janaya, is a salesperson at a quarry in CT.  Their son, Theo, has been deployed to Afghanistan with the US Army. 

Dorothy Rinaldi Gorman retired from JP Morgan Chase after 25 years.  Dorothy and her husband, Jim, are enjoying retirement. 

Claire Micki O’Keefe Roemer retired from the state of Texas, where she worked as District Coordinator for Financial Aid at Tarrant County College.  She accepted a position with the US Department of Education and is now the General Manager – School Delivery Channel within Federal Student Assistance. 

Robert and Donna Gilbert ’69 Schacher will celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary this year.  They have their first grandchild.  And all their friends said it wouldn’t last! 

Robert and Lois Scanlon ’69 Smith reside in Virginia Beach, VA.  On December 26, Linda Ike Bertand ’70 visited her old roommate, Lois, after 34 years. They had a great time in Virginia Beach. 

1969

Joseph and Judith Dunne ’76, ’95G Brill live Oneonta.  Joe recently retired as master teacher from ONC BOCES.  Judith is a middle and high school art teacher at a local school.  They have two daughters, Jessica, a graduate student at Syracuse University, and Laura, a junior at Oneonta High School. 

1970

Lynne Dodds Colclough and her husband, James, will retire from Taconic Hills Central School District this year.  Lynne taught family and consumer science for 26 years.  The youngest of their three children graduated from college in May. 

Joel Kaufman resides in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.  Last year, he lost his wife, Cheryl, who passed away from cancer.  They were married for over 29 years. 

Stephen (Dale) Noble and Anne Marie Roeder-Fichtner ’69 are shown in this photo on a recent visit to the Alumni Affairs office.  After seeing Anne’s picture in the fall issue of Reflections, Dale contacted a staff member and asked if the office would forward a card to Anne Marie.  The card arrived in her mail on New Year’s Eve.  It appears that it didn’t take long before they became reacquainted!  Dale is also looking for a former roommate, Michael Huggins, who left the College before graduating but might still be in the Oneonta area.  If anyone has any information on Mike, please contact the Office of Alumni Affairs. 

Diane Brown Ribaudo is pleased to announce the birth of her granddaughter, future Red Dragon Jordyn Elizabeth Ribaudo, on October 28.  She is the daughter of Christopher ’98 and Joyce Baumann ’98 Ribaudo. She is also the niece of Lisa Ribaudo ’03, Daryl ’01 and Jennifer Baumann Levy ’02.  Look for her in the class of 2024! 

Mary Morris McCoy Simonson retired in June 2003 after 33 years of teaching grades three and four in Endicott.  She is the mother of four grown children.  Mary is presently working as a substitute teacher in gifted and talented programs (SPARKS) in Endicott.  She was happily remarried in 2001.  She enjoys visiting her grandsons in NJ and daughters in Philadelphia and NYC, and watching her youngest son play baseball in college.  She is heading to Myrtle Beach to hunt for retirement property with her new husband. 

Linda McGure Sperry recently retired after 31 years of teaching.  She is looking forward to a grandchild in March. 

Gert Steigmayer Capponi has been teaching Spanish at Rome Free Academy for 25 years.  She has two daughters. Alison, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in May, accepted a position as a consultant with Accenture in Philadelphia.  Cara has completed her first year of law school at the University of Detroit, Mercey School of Law, and lives in Royal Oaks, MI.  Gert can be reached at gcapponi@aol.com

1971

John Danaher is teaching high school English at Shaker High School in North Colonie.  He recalls the inspirational teaching of Edith Davidson, Walter Schull, and especially Wayne Miller. 

Jeanne Denon is living in North Carolina.  She was glad to visit Oneonta and the campus during the summer of 2003. 

Marcia Allen Hamill is teaching special education at Sullivan County Correctional Facility.  Marcia and her husband, Patrick, own Hamill’s Antiques in Wurtsboro. 

Linda Runkle Post moved into a new home in Schenectady this winter.  She continues to teach global history after 20 years at Northeast Parent and Child Society.  Her daughter, Juliana, married in the spring of 2003, and she is expecting her first child this summer. Linda’s son, Charles, a SUNY-Fredonia graduate, works at the Hit Factory recording studio in NYC and plays in a sax ensemble and alternative band.  Linda would love to hear from ΑΔΒ girls.  Her number is in the book. 

John Werner retired from Arlington School after 31 years in various roles: chemistry teacher, athletic director, middle school principal and soccer coach.  On May 4, he was inducted into the Vermont Principal’s Association Hall of Fame.  John has accepted a position as head men’s soccer coach at Castleton State College starting this fall. 

1972

Bill Biga is executive director of ABC Adoption Services in Roanoke, VA.  They handle domestic adoption and orphan outreach programs. 

Teresa Hernandez Schirmer will retire from teaching in five years, after a 35-year career.  She has three children--Michael, Nath, and Carissa.

1973

Michael Brophy continues to practice law in Philadelphia, PA, with specialties in the defense of medical/psychiatric malpractice and product liability matters.  A member of numerous local and national bar associations, as well as the International Association of Defense Counsel, Mike is also a regular contributor to legal publications and editor of Juris Publishing Corporation’s Medical Malpractice Depositions: Law, Strategy and Forms.  Mike looks forward to hearing news of his classmates and friends with each edition of Reflections

Albert Clune is working as a senior attorney for the NYS Office of Children and Family Services, Bureau of Criminal History Investigation. 

Linda Lee Williams Cornell retired from AT&T and is now working as project manager for Johnson and Johnson.  In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, photography, and caring for her three cats with husband, Barry. 

Lawrence Emery, Jr., is a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania, a nationally certified counselor, and a counselor at Pennsylvania College of Technology, where he has worked for 26 years.  He and his wife, Maggie, operate a bed and breakfast, Serene View Farm, near Williamsport, PA.   He can be reached at SereneViewFarm@msn.com

Fred Peck has worked for the Social Security Administration for 29 years.  He was recently promoted to the position of technical expert.  He misses the “good old days” at Oneonta – traying down the cowpath, dollar parties, and WONY. 

Mary Ellen Schmick recently became the Assistant Superintendent of Greenwood Lake School District. 

1974

Cynthia Andrews Fowler and her husband, Bob, are enjoying an empty nest.  Their son, Austin, completed his education at SUNY-Cobleskill and Washington State University and has joined as the sixth generation of Fowler Bros. Inc.  Their daughter, Ashley, is a sophomore at LeMoyne College. 

Debra Sue Heidt-Dunwell and her husband, Richard, adopted a daughter from China, Breanna Yao, in October 2000.  

John and Kathleen Korber Leone reside in Brookhaven and are active in Bellport Youth Football, which John founded six years ago so that children would be able to play closer to home.  John and Kathleen, who teaches kindergarten at a local school, were the driving forces behind the league.  They raised funds, provided transportation, and enlisted support from area organizations and individuals to establish the league and to build it to four teams and two cheerleading squads.  When the 2004 season opened in July, the field at the intermediate school in Bellport was dedicated as John Leone Field in honor of John, who serves as league president and a former coach. 

Richard Scher has been living and practicing chiropractic in Wantagh for the past 22 years.  His sons, Matthew, 20, and Luke, 2 (yes, that’s right), keep him extremely busy.  Richard sends his best to all fellow 1974 grads. 

1975

Sandi Mackay has been teaching math nearly 30 years now!  She is hoping to retire in five years to pursue a second life, which includes travel and arts.  Sandi still lives at the Jersey shore with a second home in VT.  She hopes to see friends at her 30th reunion next year. 

Elise Horner Moloney was inspired by Dr. Kent Ponder of Oneonta and became a Spanish teacher at Tappan Zee High School, where she is the head of the Spanish Honor Society and Spanish Club.  Her children, Kristen and Tommy, are both graduates of Tappan Zee. 

Donna DeMidio Reed fills her empty nest time with being a college and career counselor for a high school near The Woodlands, TX, and teaching math at the local community college.  Both of her daughters are attending Texas A&M University.  Donna would love to hear from “old friends.” 

Katherine Camardello Salomone became Superintendent/Principal of Remsenburg-Speonk UFSD in August 2003 after 28 years as music teacher/director and elementary principal of Eastport School. 

Karen Olsson Schlauraff is a primary literacy coordinator and reading teacher for grades K-6.  She is currently in a first grade classroom.  Karen also teaches and coaches grade K-2 teachers in literacy framework.  Her husband, Donald, is an engineer.  Their daughter, Kristie, is graduating from high school.  They enjoy boating and skiing. 

1976

Michael Esposito (“Zito”) recently joined AutoNation, Inc., in Fort Lauderdale, FL, as their Senior Vice President of Human Resources.  Mike sends his regards to his friends and former ITK brothers from sunny Florida.  Mike is happily married with two children and can be reached at esposito@autonation.com. 

Ruth Golden is living in Plano, TX, with her daughter, Vicki.  Since 1983, Ruth has owned and operated her own toy inventing company.  This year she won another Mattel/Fisher Price Inventor Award for her new upcoming “Brushing Teeth Barney” item.  Other well known toys attributed to her are Elmo and his traveling band, Playtime Big Bird, Make-up Mindy, Kenya, and many others.  Just think: your children may have played with her inventions!  Some Oneonta graduates just never have to grow up!  Ruth can be reached at KIDZART@aol.com.

Robin Yonis is an attorney practicing in the securities area as Vice President and Investment Counsel of Pacific Life Insurance Company in Newport Beach, CA.  She served as general counsel to the company’s two mutual fund families and heads the mutual funds and variable life insurance and annuities regulatory compliance division of the law department.  She lives in Irvine with her beautiful, wonderful, talented, smart, funny, adorable, athletic daughter.  (Yes, she is a proud mom!)  She would love to hear from former classmates at Robin.Yonis@PacificLife.com.

1977

Carole Yass is a certified diabetes educator, registered dietician, and certified pump trainer.  She has co-designed a CD-ROM with Jamie Dillinger, RN, BSN, CDE. Meals ‘n Carbs is a diabetic nutrition educational tool designed to make it possible to learn about diabetes, digestion of nutrients, carbohydrate counting, and meal planning.  It teaches how a proper understanding of nutrition can assist in managing diabetes.

1978

Hollie Broughton-Kennedy is living in the capital district and working as a social worker for the NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.   

Erica Neuhoff LaBuz is the Director of Children with Special Needs Division of the Chenango County Department of Public Health.  She lives in Oneonta with her son, Kevin, who graduated from Oneonta High School and will attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall.  Her daughter, Kristin, will be a senior at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, majoring in sociology and economics.

Kenneth and Anne Leisz Mann will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in September.  Anne’s housemate, Sue Bleistift McMahon ’82, introduced them.  She told Anne that she would not want to date Kenny and that he wasn’t her type.  Ha, Ha! 

Joe Poon welcomed the College’s Computer Services staff in Philadelphia while they were attending an SCT Banner Summit in March.  He took them out on the town for sights and Philly Cheesesteaks.  In the photo L-R with Joe are Carol Arnold ’85, Karl Lehenbauer ’97, Andy Martin, Debbie Kilpatrick ’01 and Leon Lewis ’70. 

Rich Swetz took on the responsibility of head coach of Team Continuum (TC) in March 2003.  TC is a group of cancer survivors, families of cancer patients, and others who have organized to raise money in the fight against cancer.  Last year, Rich coached 51 runners who completed the NYC Marathon and raised over $300,000.  Their website is www.teamcontinuum.net.  They are expanding and hope to raise even more money this year during the 2004 NYC Marathon.  Rich can be reached at rswetz@rcn.com

Mary Kohler Weiss and her husband, George, reside in Richfield Springs.  Their third child is in college, majoring in History/Adolescent Education.  Their only daughter was married in May. 

1979

David Manuta believes that the work that he does is interesting.  Among other things, David worked on the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster investigation and has been working on improvements to the Javelin missile, a shoulder-fired guided missile being used in Afghanistan and Iraq.  David gave a presentation at the College that he called “Adventures in ‘Real World’ Chemistry.”  His next presentation can be called “Applications of Fundamental Science to Important Issues for All Americans.” 

Denis O’Brien says he is not dead or lying in a gutter somewhere!  For the past 17 years, he has worked for Advest, Inc., in Mystic, CT.  Currently a Vice President/Financial Advisor, he lives near the ocean with his wife, Lori, and three sons.  He coaches little league with his young son, Beau, and volunteers to teach finance in the local public schools.  His oldest son, Cutter, started a landscaping business and attends UConn.  Justin, his middle son, is attending Avon Old Farm Prep in the fall and hopes to play Division I lacrosse.  Denis has fond memories of Oneonta days and especially the nights! 

Liz Smith Propati is a fourth grade teacher at the Sanquan Elementary School in Half-Hollow Hills School District.  She is enrolled in the SDA program through SUNY-Stony Brook.  Liz and her husband, Domenick, celebrated their 20th anniversary in April.  Their oldest son, Daniel, is a freshman at the Boston Conservatory.  Their second son, Domenick, is a junior at Walt Whitman High School, and their youngest child, Chelsea, is attending Silas Wood Middle School. 

Craig Travis is owner and president of Affiniti Yacht Brokerage, Inc., with offices in Lighthouse Point, Boca Raton, and Miami, FL.  Plans are underway to establish a fourth office in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica. 

Lori Currier Woods spent “spring break” in Bonita Springs-Naples, FL, with Renee Poliachik DiMartin ’78 and Pauline Zaphiris DobbinsChristian Jensen came from Orange County, CA, to catch up with Lori and Renee at “Reds” during Reunion Weekend.   

1980

Rosemarie Raychel Jones resides in Otego with her husband, Gary.  She enjoys many outdoor activities, arts and crafts, and dancing.  She has worked as a teacher’s aide, floral assistant, and in food services. 

Mark and Karen Jankowitz Montera are living in Woodstock with their children-- Steven, Julie, and Nicole.  They want to say hello to all of their old friends.

1981

Malcolm Field was recently promoted to senior research hydrogeologist.  He accepted an appointment as editor of the Journal of Cave and Karst Studies

Jeff Schwartz has returned to Long Island after 22 years in San Diego, CA.  Within four months of his return he successfully relocated his law practice and became involved in the local government as an inaugural member and treasurer of the Nassau County Sewer and Storm Water Finance Authority.  Jeff is an experienced litigator, author, speaker, arbitrator, mediator, and judge pro tem, as well as CEO and General Counsel of privately-held corporations.  The American Jewish Committee has honored him with the Wexner Leadership award, and he was bestowed with the Gold Medallion by the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity International.  Jeff currently lives in Plainview with this wife, Lynette, and their children, Michelle and Joel.

Michael and Julie Brown ’80 Shea live in Treadwell with their four children.  Michael is the superintendent of Franklin Central School.  Julie completed her Master’s in Reading at the College in December. 

Gerard Smith, Gary Murano, Peter Viau, Tom Klaritch, Alan Rosenberg, Rich Cohen, Frank (The Baron) Davis, Jim Ram, Ed (Leisure Man) Clark ’82, Tom Engle ’82, Ed (Wearman) Karlewicz’83, Pete (Buana) Hurwitz’83, Tom Capone’83, Steve (Fleck) Fleckinstein ’83, and Neill Failla ’83 recently gathered in New York City for a casual evening to renew old acquaintances.  Attendees traveled from as far as Tennessee to catch up on each other’s lives and reminisce about the old days in Oneonta.  They all had a great time and the evening reinforced how influential the Oneonta experience was to forging close lifetime friendships.  They plan to do it again with some others who could not make this occasion, such as John (Killer) Davis ’82, Jim Brown ’83, Joe (The Beach) Murphy and Matt Dugan, among others.  Any old friends they missed can contact Pete Viau at pviau@eastcom-net.com, Gary Murano at cogaty@optonline.com, or Gerard Smith at gsmithco@optonline.net.

1982

Susan DiMonda is Director of Campus Recreation at Stony Brook University.  She is completing her Doctorate in Educational Administration, Leadership and Technology from Dowling College. 

Paul and Merrill Koptiuch Gisondo are still together since meeting in “Phippie” in 1978.  They are actually working in their majors.  Paul is a cartographer and planner for Westchester County, and Merrill is an artist.  Their website is www.pointpottery.com

Jim Lozano founded CFO for Hire, LLC, a bookkeeping and accounting management company in Albany. 

Arnie Solomon reunited with two of his former bands and several old friends from his college days when he returned to Oneonta for a music festival at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in April.  The High Street Boys, a popular group of local musicians who performed at music festivals throughout the Northeast in the 1970s and 1980s, included fellow alumnus Ed Haher ’75 on guitar.  Another of Arnie’s local groups, the New Dharma Bums, also returned for the festival at the soccer hall with alumni and former band-mates Steve Bouton ’85 and John Potocnik ’80G joining Arnie for that performance.  After graduating from the College, Arnie continued to pursue his love of bluegrass music, winning a number of competitions at festivals.  He has finished in the top ten 14 times at the Galax Leaf and String Festival in Galax, VA, which is billed as “The World’s Capital of Old-Time Mountain Music.”  His albums include “Quarter Century,” “Brooklyn to Galax,” and “Transatlantica.”  He currently resides in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, where he makes his living through his music.

Jim Bidwell was recently appointed Chief Risk Officer at E*TRADE FINANCIAL Corporation.  In his new role, Jim is responsible for coordinating an enterprise-wide system for strategy and organizational planning, internal audit, asset protection, liability management, and cost containment while ensuring risk control for the company.  He joined E*TRADE FINANCIAL in March 2000 as Vice President of Finance and was later promoted to Vice President of Corporate Strategy.  Prior to E*TRADE, Jim served as Vice President of Finance-Product Development for Iomega Corporation, a leading manufacturer of computer storage devices.  He has also held senior management positions with Nestle USA and Dannon.

Richard Keller-Coffey is married and has two children.  He teaches social studies at Poughkeepsie High School and was elected to the Dutchess County Legislature in 2003.  He would love to hear from old Oneonta friends at RKellerCoffey@aol.com

Martha (Marti) Mullins Bruckner, Margo Fischelberg Blatt, Anna Cerasia Lanphere, and Phyllis Greenberg Kartush met at the Marriot Marquis in Time Square for a brief reunion last Christmas.  It was the first time that Margo has seen her classmates in 20 years. Marti resides in Flower Mound, TX, with her husband and two sons.  Her mom, Sonia Rossbach de Frances ’59, celebrated her 45th reunion when Marti celebrated her 20th.  Anna resides in Gloversville, and Phyllis and Margo live on Long Island.   

Phyllis Greenberg Kartush recently celebrated the first birthday of her son, Jonah Matthew.  She is looking forward to the annual “Cape Girls” weekend with Audrey Shapiro, Michele Lynch Brendel, Roseann Rokosz, and Linda Labagh Armstrong

William Scura resides in Wading River with his wife, Colleen.  They have two children, Katie Rose and Natalie.

Marc Silverstein recently started a new underwriting position with the reinsurer, Gen Re Life Health, in Stamford, CT.  He lives in Rockland County with his wife, Heidi, and two sons, Jared and Dylan Hudson.  Marc previously owned the trotting mare, Esmeralda Hanover, who raced at various standardbred tracks from Maine to New Jersey and in Ohio.  They raced for two seasons, and the horse is currently standing at Hanover Shoe Farm in Pennsylvania.  Marc remains in close contact with Gregg and Vicki Trinkl ’83 Keurian and Jack Nedelman ’85.  Other interests Marc has are attending minor-league baseball games and working as a soccer referee.  He would like to congratulate the SUNY-Oneonta Women’s DIII soccer champions!   He would love to hear from former Goldingites.  His e-mail address is msilver@genre.com.

Donna Peterson Hogan relocated to Wilmington, NC.  Her husband, John, is controller for aaiPharma.  Donna is in real estate sales specializing in coastal relocation and waterfront.  She has two children, Ryan and Nicolette.

Mikki Rich Judge is an assistant director at the NYS Office of Child and Family Services' limited secure juvenile facility.  She will celebrate 20 years of marriage in December.  She has three children--Joseph, Ryan and Julia.

Noreen Perrine Liberopoulos stopped working in June 2003 to be a full-time mom and school volunteer for daughters Katie and Stacy.  She is also the official car pool mom for lacrosse and field hockey.  Noreen’s husband, George, is an electrical engineer, developing new technology for Cingular Wireless.  They reside in Cheshire, CT.

Tricia Carstairs Corcoran became a mom one week before her 40th birthday.  Connor William Corcoran was born on March 27.  She resides in Kings Park with her husband, Peter.  Tricia works for a law firm as a paralegal in Huntington.  She would like to say hello to her Pi Delta Chi sisters. 

Sheri Wohl Lapidus and former Curtis Hall suitemates Janet Kelly Kearney, Caryn Plotka Margolin, Tracey Leu Nussbaum, and Anne Longo Mosca gathered at Sheri’s home to celebrate the engagement of Joanne LaMarca and Tyler Matheson.

Steven Harris recently returned from Iraq.  He was assigned to the 413th QM Battalion, Schenectady reserve unit.  He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel shortly after returning to the US.  His daughter is attending Berkshire Community College in Massachusetts. 

Madeline Brown Hernandez has two children, Magdalena and Albert.  She teaches English as a Second Language at the University of Mexico.  She presents early childhood workshops for her local PBS station.  She is hoping to bring her children to Oneonta to see real snow.  They reside in San Antonio, TX. 

Ursula Zerega Lang has been a stay-at-home mom since the birth of her second child.  Her days are spent running around with Cooper and Mason.

Elayne (Tillie) Flynn-Irace resides in Warwick with her husband, Joseph.  They have three children--Amanda, Alec, and Ava--and are expecting their fourth in August.

Nancy Broggini Rodgers, Lisa Alvarez Oberle, Christine Murer Alvarez ’87, Dan ’89 and Kristina Going Schwarzbeck, Theresa Rasquin Stowell, Jackie Haltzer Schonfeld, and Colleen Cummins Breslin ’87 celebrated the wedding of John and Christine Rutigliano Casellini in November.  They have managed to maintain their close friendships for all these years since those first days they met during their freshman year. 

Diane Schustermann-Bank and her husband, Michael, announce the birth of their second child, Benjamin Etan, on March 19.  Benjamin joins his brother, Joshua Ilan.  Diane and Michael also celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary in March.  After 15 years as an educator, Diane loves being a full-time mommy.  The family lives in Fair Lawn, NJ. 

Elizabeth Shea-Baskin spent the first ten years after graduating from the College working on television shows and feature film production in Manhattan and Los Angeles.  She switched gears when she moved north six years ago and now works in the advertising industry.  Elizabeth currently resides in South Glens Falls, with her husband, Chris, two step-children, three dogs, and two cats.  She works on national commercial spots that are shot in the Adirondacks, Capital District, or Southern Vermont areas.  When she is not working on a production, she is a tour guide for motor coach tours in Vermont, a successful photographer, and a ski instructor at Mount Snow on winter weekends.  Any old Ski Club buddies can reach her at elizchris@adelphia.net.

Scott Olson and his wife, Lorraine, have two children, Tyler and Kensie.  Scott recently was promoted to Director of Corporate Accounts for ConAgra Foods, which relocated him to Hagerstown, MD, from Colorado.  Scott and his “old” college buddies John O’Brien, Peter O’Brien ’90, Keith Metzler ’88, Ted Galgano, Frank McElroy ’90, Tim Maguire ’90, Danny Meyer ’88 and Mike O’Leary have made it a yearly event to get together each fall for their own golf tournament, “The Oneonta Classic,” where the loser gets the privilege of serving his fellow alumni at all their favorite establishments downtown.  Thanks go out to Peter O’Brien for a job well done in 2003.  They have always loved Oneonta and look forward to the annual get-together.

Kevin and Stacey Rodino Beattie are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Nolan Robert, on July 6, 2003.  The Beattie family resides in Niskayuna.  Kevin is the Sports Information Director at RPI, and Stacey teaches fifth grade. 

Brian Desautels opened a solo law firm, Law Offices of Brian A. Desautels, LLC, in West Haven, CT.  He married Sara Hafele on August 17, 2002. They recently purchased a new home in Trumbull, CT, and are hoping to start a family soon. 

Corinna Kazolias completed her Master’s in Elementary and Special Education at Mount Saint Mary College in December. 

Susan Kirby was promoted to Fiscal Control Supervisor of San Diego City Schools in August 2003.

Caren Brauner became engaged to Aaron Galit on November 25.  They currently live in New York City.  A Florida wedding is planned for April 2005. 

Kelly Potts Bulich was married on September 27.  Kelly and her husband, Daniel, are expecting their first child in October.

Philip Gibbons recently received the Brummer Award, the highest award available for performance of duty in the New York State Police, and his heroism was recognized by a resolution of the State Senate. Now stationed in Syracuse and living with his family in Clay, he received the award for his role in rescuing a truck driver trapped last year in a fiery crash on Route 81 near Homer. In nearly 70 years, only 81 troopers have received the Brummer Award, which recognizes extraordinary valor, heroism, and outstanding performance.  

Tara Sherman Horst and her husband, Robbie, have two children, Peyton and Kelcie.  They are both teachers.  Their small fishing lure company has been featured in Great Lakes Angler magazine and picked up by Bass Pro Shops. 

Lisa Hicks Loscalzo and her husband, Jimmy, welcomed a daughter, Madison Nicole, on September 7.  They reside in Massapequa.

Aubrey and Kimberly Scanlan ’96 Steele live in New City.  Kim is a stay-at-home mom to their daughter, Lindsey Jane, who was born August 22, 2003.  Aubrey is project manager for Neversink Construction Corporation.

Jennifer Forrester Moore and her husband, Tony, celebrated the first birthday of their daughter, Harper Elizabeth, on May 12.  Many Oneonta alumni stopped by to help celebrate the occasion, including Jen Hendrie ’97, Jenn White, and Andrea Savin ’97.  The family currently resides in Westchester.

John and Alexandra (Alix) Fox Cutrone celebrated their September 27 wedding at St. Mary’s Church in Kingston.  Their reception was held at The Inn at Buttermilk Falls in Milton.  The wedding party included the following alumni: Errin Zuckerwise Verdesca, Angela Nowak ’98, Jeannine Ambriano ’98, Denise Bogusky ’98, Shannon Horrigan ’96, David Blakely, Scott Segal, and Edward Westfield.  John is the President of Cutrone Landscape Supply.  Alix received her Master’s in Psychology at Hunter College and is a social worker at St. Cabrini Home, Inc.  The couple is building a home in Ulster Park.

Michael and Rose O’Connell ’97 Branciforti say that Oneonta provided them with an education that made them marketable and competitive in today’s job market.  After meeting at the College seven years ago, Rose and Michael will celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary in July.  They reside in Garner, NC, and purchased their first home in 2002.  Rose teaches American literature at W.G. Enloe High School in Raleigh and is the soccer and basketball coach.  Michael was recently promoted to project coordinator for Cardinal Health, a pharmaceutical research organization. 

Julie Lenard is pleased to announce her engagement to Paul Rostkowski.  An August 20, 2005, wedding is planned at the Hotel Utica.  Julie is completing her third year as a sixth grade teacher in the Hewlett-Woodmere School District.  Paul is employed with DTCC as a junior computer programmer.  Julie would love to hear from friends at juleslenard@aol.com

Justin Mandel has opened his Chinese medicine practice, Acupuncture Medical Center, in Armonk.  In addition to his private practice, he works at a pain management clinic in Manhattan.  Justin is a 2002 graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, located in NYC.  He studied acupuncture, herbology and Chinese massage.  Along with being licensed to practice acupuncture in three states, Justin is a board certified diplomat in Chinese herbology.  During his last year at Oneonta, Justin observed acupuncture treatments at Dr. Jun Tu’s clinic.  He can be reached at qpuncturist@yahoo.com

Dory Pass and Rob Lobel are thrilled to announce their engagement.  They are busy planning their October 10 wedding at VIP Country Club in New Rochelle.  Dory is an account executive for The Daily Record in Parsippany, NJ.  Rob works as a senior financial advisor and vice president for Merrill Lynch in Short Hills, NJ.  Dory would love to hear from old friends at doryamanda@yahoo.com

Lynn Wenzel Galgano and her husband, Brian, reside in East Northport.  They were married on October 11 at Land’s End in Sayville.  Liz Archibald ’97 and Jennifer Sonin served as bridesmaids.  Other Arethusa alumni who took part in the celebration were Meri Kaye, Gina Balsamo, Rebecca Gaynor-Boardman '99 and Randi Bernstein '00.  Other Oneonta friends included Dennis Halloran and Keith Cairns.  Lynn is a seventh grade social studies teacher at Great Neck School District.  She received her Master’s in Special Education from Dowling College.  Brian is a first grade teacher with the Smithtown School District.  Lynn would love to hear from old Oneonta friends and Arethusa sisters at Lynn_Wenzel@yahoo.com

1999

April Smith Dibs and her husband, Patrick, reside in Freeport with their pug puppy, Princess.  They celebrated their July 19, 2003, wedding at St. Christopher’s in Baldwin.  A reception followed at the Tivoli Terrace in Westbury.  Oneonta friend Heather Mack-Scott served as a bridesmaid.   

Heather Utter Finch and her husband, James, reside in Greene.  They are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Kolby James, on June 18, 2003.  Heather teaches fourth grade in Norwich. 

Susan Hughey Linsler and her husband, Matthew, celebrated their wedding on August 2, 2003, at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Ellicottville.  Oneonta alumni who attended the wedding were Dawn Stecz and Jessica McCloud.  Sarah is a social service caseworker preparing for her master’s study in counseling.  Matthew is a foreman for a major construction company.  The couple resides in western NY, where they plan to build a home. 

Heather Murray is pleased to announce her engagement to Michael Mercorella.  Plans are being made for a September 2005 wedding.  Heather is currently employed as an account administrator for a promotional company. 

2000

Paul Albanese and Nicole Panagis are pleased to announce their engagement.  Plans are being made for a June 2005 wedding.  Nicole is currently working as an English teacher at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn.  Paul is teaching social studies at Fort Hamilton High School, also in Brooklyn. 

Jennifer Chapman is currently a guidance counselor at Centreville Elementary School in Centreville, VA.  She is also the Youth Choral Director at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Springfield.   

Edward and Meghan Gilligan DiMartino recently purchased a new home in East Greenbush.  They are proud to announce the birth of their son, Nicholas Edward, on December 2.  Meghan is a fifth grade teacher at Guilderland CSD.  Edward is a family and consumer science teacher at Averill Park.   

Eric Kafka is a NYC police officer assigned to the 104th Precinct.  He was selected to carry the Olympic Torch on June 19 in New York City. 

Peter and Kimberly Buggeln’01 Pantano celebrated their wedding on July 10 at St. Bernard’s Church in Levittown.  Oneonta alumni in attendance were Bill Wheeler ’99 and Christine Buggeln Bausenwein ’90.   

2001

Josh and Kerry McGlynn ’02 Hasselbach were married on August 9.  Oneonta friends who attended the celebration were Jill Kolanach ’01, who served as bridesmaid, Leslie Bromberg ’02, and Cheryl Paille ’00.  Kerry works at Maharam as the marketing coordinator.  Josh works at Deutsche Bank as a compliance officer.  They reside in Hoboken, NJ.  Josh and Kerry would like to hear from friends at khasselbach@maharam.com

Kylene Kownacki is pleased to announce her engagement to Matthew Paul.  Plans are being made for a July 2005 wedding.  Kylene is a kindergarten teacher in Wappingers Central School District. 

Grace Santiago LaBella and her husband, Rocco, reside in Utica with their daughter, Gianna.  Grace is working in the accounting department at Cathedral Corporation in Rome.  She is looking for classmates Joel Cutting, Lee-anna Young '00 and Christopher Boyd.  Grace can be reached at glabella@cathedralcorporation.com

2002

Stephanie Grimes and Stephen Burns ’03 would like to announce their engagement.  Plans are being made for a July 2005 wedding.  Stephanie is completing her Master’s in Secondary Education – Earth Science at SUNY-Stony Brook.  Steve is teaching at the Riverhead Middle School. 

Adrienne Kushner Irons and her husband, Russell, reside in Otego.  They are pleased to announce the birth of their first child, Jacob Russell, on February 16. 

2003

Peter Wagner and Erica Williams are pleased to announce their engagement.  Peter is employed at MDS Laboratories in Poughkeepsie.  Erica is a custom drum builder at Precision Drum Company in Pleasant Valley.  They have not yet set a date for the wedding. 

Kristi Congdon Gorrell and her husband, Mike, are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Leah Gayle, on July 1, 2003.  The family resides in New Berlin. 

2004

Gina Darcangelo Chapman is enjoying her position as Director of Special Events at the American Cancer Society.  She resides in Vestal with her husband, David, and two children, Alyssa and Robbie.
