The Tobey Time Capsule
Tobey Hall is undergoing a major renovation this year,
and workers who were removing the cornerstone from 1958 discovered the Tobey
Time Capsule. We’re hoping that our Golden Alumni from the classes of 1958
and earlier can share their memories and fill in some details about the
recently unearthed “treasure” of our College’s history.
For example, do you remember…
-
The Panda Prints Valentine’s Card?
-
The Bell Freshman Handbook?
-
The many familiar names in the 1958-59 Staff
Directory?
-
The ceramic charm of Associate Dean of Students
Margaret Baughman?
-
The brochures with beautiful photos of the College
from your era?
During Reunion Weekend 2009, take a look at the Tobey
Time Capsule and share your memories of it with College Archivist Heather
Heyduk at the Celebrate the Past, Present, and Future Exhibit on Saturday,
June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hunt Union International Lounge. With
our current students, we’re planning to add new materials to the time
capsule and put it back in its rightful place in Tobey Hall for future
generations of Oneonta alumni to enjoy. Come to Oneonta for Reunion Weekend
2009, share your memories of your alma mater, and help us connect the past,
present, and future of SUNY Oneonta through the Tobey Time Capsule!
