Make a Gift

Charity Navigator: Four Star Charity

Many alumni and friends will choose to support Possibilities Full of Promise through unrestricted giving, allowing the college to apply gifts and grants where they are needed most. Such giving is essential to the overall success of SUNY Oneonta.

Gifts to the Fund for Oneonta support the programs and campus traditions that connect SUNY Oneonta’s students, faculty and graduates. The Fund provides unrestricted annual funding for scholarships, internship programming and student-alumni networking activities, investments in Milne Library, and other important programs.

Like any successful college or university, SUNY Oneonta must have the flexibility to face challenges and embrace opportunities as they arise. Gifts to the unrestricted endowment are invested by the College at Oneonta Foundation. The income these investments produce will provide future returns to support the academic needs of our college and our students in perpetuity.

Michaela Arnold

Michaela ArnoldIt’s not every day you hear about a college freshman taking a day mid-semester to meet with alumni in Manhattan.  But for Michaela Arnold, this opportunity became a reality through SUNY Oneonta’s Backpacks to Briefcases program.  Primarily reserved for upperclassmen, Backpacks to Briefcases gives 50 SUNY Oneonta students the opportunity to interact with alumni holding high level positions in the Business, Economics, and Accounting industries. “This experience meant a lot to me because it was my first year at SUNY Oneonta and I was able to see where my major could take me in the future,” said Michaela.

“The alumni were very relaxed and answered questions regarding their careers, experience at SUNY Oneonta, and their personal lives.”

Michaela met with three Oneonta alumni in their workplaces and enjoyed an evening networking reception with additional alum’s. “Thanks to the support and funding provided to students, Backpacks to Briefcases has reinforced my decision to major in Business Economics.  By being able to meet three successful alumni, I believe that Oneonta is the place for me.”

Michaela plans to pursue a second degree in Accounting after receiving her bachelor’s degree and hopes for employment near her hometown of Harpursville, NY.  Backpacks to Briefcases is just one example of the unique development opportunities SUNY Oneonta students can take advantage of through generous giving to Possibilities Full of Promise.
