Inclusion Diversity Equity Action Grants

In Support of the College at Oneonta’s
Strategic Action Plan on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Call: The IDEA Grants Committee invites members of the campus community to apply for funding for projects or programs that will help to fulfill the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Background: In March 2006, President Alan B. Donovan charged the Office of Equity and Inclusion with the task of creating the College’s Strategic Action Plan on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.  From August 2006 to December 2007, the Director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion worked with a team of staff, faculty and students to create the Plan. Ultimately, the Plan aims to fulfill the College’s Statement of Values which recognizes “our common purpose in creating a truly diverse campus community that respects and values each and every member.”

Purpose: The College’s adoption of the Plan requires commitment on the part of all members of the campus community, as well as a commitment of resources. As part of that commitment, and alongside initiatives throughout the college, funding is available for the academic years of 2009-2011 to help put the Plan into practice. Preference will be given to proposals for projects and programming that are collaborative across departments and/or divisions of the College. The average amount of grants will range from $500 to $5000 but all requests will be considered. Please note that IDEA grants cannot be used for salaries and benefits and are subject to New York State guidelines for expenditures.

Application Deadline: Follow this link to apply. Deadline is August 3, 2009.

Notification of Grants: The IDEA Grants Committee will make recommendations to the President’s Cabinet, which will then make its final decisions by the end of August 2009. Additional calls for proposals may be made as funding becomes available.
