EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
(STAFF ASSOCIATE)

The SUNY College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) in the University Police Department. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Vice President/Chief of Police and will be responsible for managing and implementing all emergency systems for the College. The College at Oneonta is a liberal arts college with a pre-professional focus. With 5,800 students and 260 faculty, the College offers programs at the baccalaureate and master’s levels; the College’s 250 acre campus overlooks the scenic Susquehanna River Valley and is located 75 miles from Albany.

Responsibilities: Works with the Chief of Police, Associate Vice Presidents for Employee Services, Administration and Technology, and Facilities and Safety. The EMC will provide leadership, strategic planning, implementation, writing of protocols and procedures, training, and maintenance of the emergency preparedness and emergency operational systems of the College. The EMC will make daily, weekly, and monthly reports as deemed necessary to the Chief of Police and any regulative body which is appropriate. The EMC will be working with confidential and classified documents, restricted and secured state and federal systems, and under the mandates of state and federal authorities. The EMC works independently and creatively, and collaborates in a team environment with other departments.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; five years experience in either law enforcement or paid fire service; excellent communication skills (written and oral); and demonstrated understanding of chain of command. Must be able to pass fingerprint and background investigations.

Preferred: Master’s degree; supervisory experience; completion of NIMS training; experience with computers; training experience; and familiarity with emergency systems.
