COLLEGE ASSISTANCE MIGRANT PROGRAM EDUCATION SPECIALIST

The Research Foundation of SUNY College at Oneonta invites applications for an Education Specialist in its College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), which provides students from migrant/farm working families with a comprehensive array of support services during their first year of college. We are seeking a person who has the ability to work independently; is highly motivated and creative. This is a 12 month position, ½ time mid December through mid January.

Duties include: Providing personal, academic and career counseling to 1st year students. Responsible for orienting and facilitating students involvement in campus life.

Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other Human Services field, fluent in Spanish and English; excellent counseling and group process skills and experience working with or counseling adolescents and young adults. The person chosen must be willing to work a student centered schedule.

Preferred: Experience working or counseling in a post-secondary educational setting; experience working with migrant, seasonal farm working or rural families/students and with culturally diverse or disadvantaged youth.
