COVID-19 Information

What to do if you test positive for COVID-19

Employees, if you test positive for COVID-19, please:

  • Immediately notify the Office of Employee Services by sending an email to human.resources@oneonta.edu OR calling (607) 436-2509.
  • Notify your supervisor and discuss options for working remotely if you feel well enough to continue working and your work can be completed remotely.
  • Follow the CDC guidelines for isolation and the university's reporting protocol; a member of the Employee Services team will review the requirements with you and guide you through the steps to utilize COVID leave accruals if you are not well enough to work on campus or from a remote site.

University Reporting Protocol & CDC Guidelines:

  • Submit proof of testing positive by emailing or faxing:
    • a copy of the positive COVID test, together with your university photo ID OR
    • documentation from your physician confirming the positive test results.
  • You may return to your normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:
    • Your symptoms are improving overall, and
    • You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication)
  • When you return to your normal activities, take precaution over the next 5 days such as wearing a mask, physical distancing, and/or testing when you will be around other people indoors.
  • If you develop a fever or start to feel worse after you have gone back to normal activities, stay home and away from others again until, for at least 24 hours, both of the above are true.

Please reach out to the Employee Services team (human.resources@oneonta.edu OR (607) 436-2509) if you have any questions. Remember if you are feeling unwell, contact your personal physician and follow their medical advice.
