UUP Individual Development Awards

The UUP Individual Development Awards (IDA) Program is designed to support a variety of professional development projects or activities by assisting eligible employees to develop their full professional potential and to prepare for advancement.

Applications for the UUP/JLMC 2023-2024 IDA are currently open.

The deadline for submission is midnight on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

The UUP Individual Development Award Program is designed to assist eligible UUP employees develop their full professional potential and to prepare for advancement, as discussed in Article XII, Evaluation and Promotion, of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees. As a result, only applications that clearly demonstrate that a project or activity will assist the applicant further their professional development and prepare them for advancement will be considered. (See “Part D: Required Attachments” of application.)

In addition, preference may be given to first- or second-time applicants.

Note that incomplete, illegible, or otherwise poorly prepared applications WILL BE disqualified.

Late submissions were not accepted.

The maximum amount that can be awarded to each employee is $2,000.

Employees may be funded for up to 2 projects or activities, not to exceed a total of $2,000.

If you are requesting funds for 2 projects or activities, you must submit a complete, separate application for EACH project or activity.

Instructions:

1. Review Article XII, Evaluation and Promotion, of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees, and the IDA Program Guidelines thoroughly.

2. Complete the application in full and gather together all required attachments.

3. Complete the attached IDA Coversheet.

4. Save coversheet, application, and attachments together in a single pdf file.

5. Name the file using your last name and first initial.

6. Email the file to michaela.bargher@oneonta.edu by Midnight, Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

As per the IDA Program Guidelines, and the related General Program Information, the proposed project or activity must enable the employee to meet one or more of the criteria specified in the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees, Article XII, Evaluation and Promotion. Therefore, check below which criteria(s) your project or activity satisfies:

The Program Guidelines also state that the proposed project or activity must fall within certain categories.
Therefore, check below the applicable category of your project or activity:

  • Artistic or creative endeavors
  • Conference attendance (no formal role)
  • Conference participation (presiding, presenting, etc.)
  • Course work (not related to earning a degree and not covered by UUP tuition waiver or by SUNY tuition assistance)
  • Curriculum or instructional material development
  • Grant proposal development
  • Preparation of material for publication
  • Research (basic, applied or historical)
  • Workshop, seminar or internship attendance
  • Other work-related professional development project or activity

In addition to considering completeness and quality, the Committee will “grade” each application using the attached Rating Scale. The higher the rating, the more money will be approved.

4 – 6 Conference participation (presiding, presenting, etc.)

Course work (not related to earning a degree and not covered by UUP tuition waiver or by SUNY tuition assistance)

Preparation of material for publication Research (basic, applied, or historical)

Other work-related professional development project or activity will be appropriately categorized and rated accordingly.

If awarded funding, you will be assigned an account number in which to submit your expenses. Actual expenditures against your award are only for receipted expenses within normal State limitations. Submit travel vouchers and purchase requisitions to Daniel Peters in Procurement and Travel.
