Phoebe: Gender & Cultural Critiques

The Department publishes a journal, Phoebe, two issues annually, which fosters intellectual exchanges between the College at Oneonta and Women's and Gender Studies programs within SUNY, across the country and abroad. Phoebe is also an internship opportunity. Faculty and graduate students, creative writers and artists have an opportunity to publish work, polished or still in a formative state, which explores different methodological approaches and examines provocative questions about gender issues. Phoebe has published award winning poets -- Wanda Coleman, Lyn Lifshin, Rita Ann Higgins; short storywriters -- Merrill Joan Gerber, Janice Eidus, Lisa Chewning; and accomplished scholars -- Bettina Aptheker, Teresa Ebert, Marilyn Wesley, Liz Yorke, etc.
