Women's and Gender Studies at Oneonta

Established in 1972, as the SUNY Oneonta's Women's Studies Department; the Department was renamed the Women's and Gender Studies Department in 2000. WGS:

• offers eight to ten courses each semester
• brings together faculty, students, and community residents for

  - visiting lecturers
  - workshops
  - film series
  - panel presentations/discussions at the Gender, Sexuality, Resource Center, Room F,
    2nd Floor, Hunt Union

How do U.S. women's wages compare to other industrialized nations?

GAP clothing, Wal Mart goods & Starbucks coffee: connections between local and international economies -- women as workers and consumers

Single mothers, step-fathers, lesbian & gay families: new patterns of family life and work

Sci-fi films, Barbie dolls, rap music, chick lit: representations of race, gender, and sexuality in popular culture
