Social Networking
This track consists of a series courses designed for those who want in depth knowledge of social networking. A social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. This track starts with the Overview course, then has a course dedicated to most of the major types of tools used in social networking: widget use (aggregation), Twitter, Blogging, Wikis, and finally a social networking aggregator, Facebook. Additional courses may be added to this track as new technologies emerge.
Adobe Connect - Introduction
This course is designed for those who wish to learn about holding meetings or seminars over the web using the latest in “web-conferencing” technologies. The course will introduce Adobe Connect, a web conferencing, screen sharing and electronic content delivery system. Prerequisite: Basic computer (PC or Mac) skills such as using a mouse, navigating through windows, and surfing the Internet. Familiarity with web browsers and basic file management skills also a plus.

Using Twitter & TweetDeck
This course is part of the social networking series and is designed for those who wish to learn how to use Twitter and its companion utility TweetDeck. Twitter is a micro blogging application similar to texting on a cell phone – only on the Internet. Twitter has gained extensive notability and popularity worldwide. This course will introduce the basics of sending, receiving and searching messages in the Twitter environment and organizing your environment using TweetDeck. Prerequisite: Basic computer (PC or Mac) skills such as using a mouse, navigating through windows, and surfing the Internet.

Blogging 1.0
This course is part of the social networking series and is designed for those who wish to learn about blogging. The course will introduce what blogs are, how to post, edit and control comments on a blog, how to integrate widgets on a blog and will end with an overview of the more popular blogging platforms available. Prerequisite: Basic computer (PC or Mac) skills such as using a mouse, navigating through windows, and surfing the Internet.

Facebook 1.0
This course is part of the social networking series and is designed for those who wish to learn about Facebook, perhaps the most popular social networking platform today. The course will cover creating a Facebook presence, building a community, using the “wall”, adding applications, uploading and tagging photos, and managing your profile and settings. If time permits, a discussion on ways you might use Facebook in teaching or creating communities for work will be included in this course. Prerequisite: Basic computer (PC or Mac) skills such as using a mouse, navigating through windows, and surfing the Internet.
