A great way to become really involved in the Theatre Department is of course to become a theatre major! Becoming a major will immerse you in everything the theatre program has to offer.

Current students: If you would like to change your major to theatre, or declare a double-major, you need to visit the Academic Advisement Center and seek further advisement from the Theatre Department.

Prospsective students: If you would like to major in theatre at SUNY Oneonta simply apply to the college and indicate theatre as your desired major. No audition or interview is required. If you would like to supplement your application by participating in the Special Talent Program you are welcome to do so.

A Degree In Theatre

Today, many post-graduation pathways include multiple changes in employer and career field, as well as the pursuit of further education. Theatre and the liberal arts are well suited to prepare students for varied options in an unpredictable future. By pursuing a degree in theatre, students gain the practical knowledge needed for a specific job in theatre, but they also develop valuable transferrable skills in time management, communication, creative problem solving, teamwork, cultural awareness, and more.
