Take an online course this summer!

Click here for our listing of online courses for Summer 2008.

Online learning allows students to take SUNY College at Oneonta courses from anywhere via the Internet.  For some learners, this is a great opportunity to earn credits from a location other than Oneonta's campus.  In an online class, class time is usually "asynchronous," meaning that you don't have to be logged in at the exact same time as your instructor or classmates.  Deadlines and classwork are still very important in online courses, though, so it's important to realize that online courses aren't necessarily "easier" than on-campus courses.

To help you decide if online learning is right for you, check out our Online Learning  Suitability Self-Assessment.  Take a look at this free, online book How to Succeed With Online Learning.

We offer several courses online during the summer.  To find a course that is offered online, you can now search by the OL attribute.

Go to http://webservices.oneonta.edu and choose Open/Closed Classes.
Choose the Summer term.  On the next page, you'll see "Summer Preliminary Schedule."
The sixth item reads "Attribute Type."  Choose OL and click the "GET CLASSES" button.
The courses you see listed are those that are offered online.

YOU MUST REGISTER for online courses the same way you register for any other course.  Current SUNY Oneonta students may register at http://webservices.oneonta.edu beginning March 3, 2008 for all courses. You may also register in person in the Office of Continuing Education, 135 Netzer Administration. If you take an Oneonta course through SLN, you will also need to enter your course through http://sln.suny.edu in addition to registering for the course here.  Whether you're in an Angel, Blackboard, or SLN course, you will need to both officially register for the course through the College AND enter the course on the web.  These are separate processes.

Many online courses will have an orientation session that meets on May 7, 2008, the study day of finals week for the Spring 2008 semester.  These orientations will be listed as a note under the course on the online registration screen.  If your online course is not scheduled to have an orientation session, you can email the instructor for further instructions.  The instructors' email addresses are listed in the note under each online course.
