In 2009, the Sociology Department received approval from the College Curriculum Committee to offer a track within the Sociology major and a minor in Community and Environment.  The major track is currently under review at higher levels of SUNY Administration, but the minor is now available for students.

The program is designed to help students interested in community and environmental issues receive an appropriate background in Sociology and other disciplines related to such topics. 

The liberal arts program can be enhanced through student participation in research and internship opportunities.
