Formative Evaluation Questions
Compiled by the Committee on Instruction
The SRFI provides space for students to answer instructor-specified questions. This presents an ideal opportunity for an instructor to receive anonymous feedback from students regarding areas for potential improvement. Below are some sample questions that could lead to improvements in instruction; instructors are encouraged to adopt or edit these questions, or develop their own to fit their specific situation.
Assignments were effective in helping me learn the subject matter.
Required texts/materials were useful.
Tests, projects, etc., adequately related to the course material.
This course challenged me to think deeply about the subject matter.
The instructor stayed on topic.
The instructor clearly answered students’ questions.
The instructor made wise use of class time.
The instructor engaged most students in classroom discussions.
The instructor was prepared for class.
