Nanodays 2013

NanoDays 2013 is Coming! New Activities and Shows!

Celebrate NanoDays at The Science Discovery Center on Saturday, April 6th

The Science Discovery Center and the Oneonta World of Learning are sponsoring our third annual NanoDays event, an afternoon of activities designed to educate the public about the exciting world of nanotechnology. The Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net) organizes this nationwide festival of educational programs about nanoscale science and engineering.

New for this year's event:

  • Kids can complete a Nano-sized scavenger hunt and earn a goody bag
  • Investigate the relationship between society and technology
  • Play with "smart" metals
  • Try on an invisibility cloak
  • Make a color-changing bracelet
  • Meet a supervillian from the future in the theatrical production "Attack of the Nanoscientist"

Date: Saturday, April 6, 2013
Time: 12:00pm- 4:00pm
Location: Science Building I, SUNY College at Oneonta campus

Admission is free. Donations gladly accepted.

What is nano?

Nano is anything that is so small that it is measured in nanometers. A nanometer is one-billionth of a meter— or 100,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair! Nano-sized particles behave differently than larger particles of the same material. For example, nanoparticles of gold can look red, orange, green, or purple!

Nanotechnology will affect all of us—from everyday things like clothing that won't stain, to extraordinary medical discoveries that will save lives.
