Music Literacy for Singers through Hand-Sign Solfegge
Singers, not instrumentalists, typically learn music through aural repetition, often hearing a keyboard instrument play their written pitches and then attempting to sing them back. As a result, the development of critical thought regarding pitch relationships for most singers is never formed in the brain, because the act of reading music is primarily intuitive and non-rational.
All Over for Distributed Ensemble
"All Over" exploits technologies such as Voice Over Internet Protocol and collaborative social media to join composer Joe Pignato and author Ivan Robertson with musicians around the world for a live collaborative performance event. The performance will feature contributions from musicians at multiple sites in the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, and New Zealand. Remote participants will join the performance via SKYPE video conferencing software.
