Following the success of the two international Queering Paradigms conferences - QP1 held in February 2009 at Canterbury Christ Church University, UK, and QP2 in April 2010 at The Faculty of Law, Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, AU, the Africana & Latino Studies, Philosophy and Women’s & Gender Studies Departments at SUNY - Oneonta are pleased to announce the 2011 conference, Queering Paradigms III. The conference is held in collaboration with and receiving support from the SUNY Oneonta Office of Equity and Inclusion, the Gender Sexuality Resource Center, the Center for Multicultural Experiences, and the Ralph R. Watkins Center for Social Justice.

*The aim of the conference is to examine the present reality and future challenges in LGBTIQ or Queer Studies from a broad, trans-disciplinary perspective, including queeries of the discourses and paradigms of the inter-discipline. Papers and panels will address new paradigms of sexual difference and identities, expressions of sexual citizenship, the queering of institutions, classrooms, green movements, and community activism. Subject populations include transnational migrant sex workers, transgendered South Asians, globalized gay Mexicans, and church affiliated gay Kenyans among others. Among other topics panels address the question of public toilet spaces internationally, LGBTIQ linguistic performativity, queer memories and archives and LGBTIQ communities’ relationships to the state.
