We strongly encourage our students to become involved in some of the
many clubs
and organizations on campus. Research on college outcomes has shown
that students who are more involved in their campus are more likely to
be successful in college and more likely to graduate.
In addition to college-wide clubs and organizations, the Psychology
Department has two organizations specifically for psychology majors.
The Psychology Club is
open to all students. Psi Chi,
the national psychology honorary society, is open to students who demonstrate
academic excellence, and students who meet the academic criteria are
invited to join in their junior or senior years. These two groups often
work together, including activities such as these:
- meeting to discuss issues of interest
- inviting speakers to campus
- arranging panel discussions or presentations on career or graduate
school preparation
- visiting other institutions
- carrying out fund-raising activities
- providing monetary support for students to attend regional or national
conferences
